Service Bulletin - General 177 Issue 1 May 2003

The torque setting of the pump drive shaft locking screw has been increased. The new drive shaft locking
screw torque 17,0 Nm (13 lbf ft) 1,73 kgf m. This increased torque reduces the risk of the rotation of the pump
drive shaft by accident when the pump is locked and as the pump is fitted to the engine.
The design of the pump housing and the pump drive shaft have been altered. The drive shaft locking screw,
washer and O-ring have not been altered.
Caution: The drive shaft locking screw should only be released after the pump has been correctly fitted and
pin timed to the engine. The drive shaft locking screw must be released before the engine is started.
Note: A Warning Label is provided with the pump. Secure the warning label to the drive shaft locking screw.
The pump should still be fitted and pin timed to the engine as described in the relevant Workshop Manual.
