REFLECTION

I’ve enjoyed our final requirement on Elective 2 which is to inspect the plumbing system
of any construction site. We’ve have choose to visit and inspect the on going construction of Mt.
Apo Hotel near FTC tower. This visit has provided a great opportunity to gain more knowledge
in the actual perspective. And the construction members are so accommodating, they treat us as
engineer as well.

The purpose of our site visit at the on going construction of Mt. Apo Hotel is to ensure or
inspect that all plumbing within the Philippines is installed according to the Revised Plumbing
Code of the Philippines and is safe and free from cross contamination and backflow. During our
site visit, I’ve observe on how they build there plumbing system that the administrative authority
approves. The Engineer assigned to that construction let us see there plumbing plan on how the
authority approves there plumbing system. And the Engineer tour us on their construction site
explaining on how they put the pipes under and above the concrete.

During this trip, I did gain a better understanding on the plumbing code and the purpose
of such thing and develop a good passion to become Engineer in the future.
Documentation

Construction site visits, referred to as “work observation” by the American Institute of

Architects, are a critical factor in project delivery. The unique nature of acoustic detailing
requires visual and sometimes field testing to verify correct installation of products and
construction assemblies. Preparation for site visits begins during the Construction Documents
design phase. A list of site inspections, keyed to project milestones, should be issued to the
Contractor at the start of the Construction Administration phase. Site visit objectives should be
planned and the Contractor notified prior to arriving on site. When on site it is necessary to
conduct inspections in a methodical manner, document potential deviations from design intent,
and debrief the Contractor. Checklists can improve efficiency and avoid overlooking key
objectives. Work observation reports become part of the project record and are important for
tracking corrective measures by the Contractor. Acoustic measurements may be part of
inspections to check quality of work or determine compliance with Specifications. Well-planned
and executed site visits contribute to project success and boost our profession's esteem with the
building construction industry.

We are assigned with my groupmates to inspect on how they install their plumbing
system according to the Revised Plumbing Code of the Philippines and this pictures is the
evidence that we have visited and inspect the plumbing system in the construction site.
