Solo Form:
Two Chorus’s of Guitar, Trumpet, Bass and Piano Solo.
1st Chorus 24 bars is the tune down a halfstep with a variation in the last four bars
2nd Chorus 26 bars in the tunes original key.

Head out:
2 times round the form
First time the tune is played down a halfstep by trumpet and guitar
Final head is in the original Key with piano trio playing the head.
The final four bars of C/D are used as a Vamp/Outro

Melodic Development techniques

A section: 1-4 is the initial phrase


Bar 5-8 reptition of initial phrase with removal of some notes, some rhythmic
displacement and a small Augmentation in the phrase

B section: Intial phrase bar 9-10


Bar 11-12 is a repition of the initial phrase but transposed on the second half of bar 11
(its almost a direct transposition up a halfstep)
Bar 13-16: Bar 13 is a transposition of bar 9, bar 14 is where the phrase changes from the
B sections initial theme and also introduces a development into the C section.

C section: Bar 17-18: Intitial phrase


Bar 19-20: slight variation and transposition of phrase
Bar 21-22: Augmentation and variation of phrase.

Harmonic Rhythm:
Harmony is slow moving changing every two bars
In bar 20-24 the harmonic rhythm incres moving every bar
Then it slows down ending with the harmonic rhythm moving once over four bars

Modal Style:
Plateau modal till bar 16
Vertical modal from bar 17-20
Returns to Plateau modal bar 21-26

Sequential relationships:
Harmony is transposed down a half step for the first chorus of Solo form
Root movement in A and B section is the Same except the B section is transposed down a
Major third
The roots of bars 1,5,9,13,17 descend in whole steps
Bar 17-19 Triads ascend in Major thirds

A section uses mostly uses leaps of a 3rd or Larger intervals for the melody
B section- Increases of stepwise motion
Usually using the pattern of a leap with the melodic phrase descending within the interval
of the leap.
