Acting in the administrative capacity, president of the university in Ethiopia, director of
public library, dean of collage head of the department, supervisors, and class
representatives all do the same thing

Another major responsibility of the president is to lead the institution in the acquisition of
resources, focusing particularly on the development and implementation of initiatives to attract
new sources of financial support. The president works collaboratively with the Board of Regents,
faculty, staff, and strategic partners to identify and articulate federal funding priorities and set the
priorities of future private fundraising campaigns.

The president also guides important governance precedents involving WSU’s role as a statewide
university with five campuses and multiple delivery systems evolves. The president is
responsible for creating the blueprint and building the commitment that leads the University
toward fulfillment of its long-term goals.

Some responsibility of president in university

 Be responsible for the organization and administration of the university.


 Make policy recommendations to the Board on all matters that affect the university.
 Recommend all additions or changes in personnel and in personnel policies.
 Submit an annual budget and administer the Board approved budget.
 Have authority to exercise broad, discretionary power along lines established by the
Board.
 Be responsible for the formulation of all reports as may be required by the Board and by
local, state or national agencies.
 Recommend to the Board, site locations and site utilization.
 Direct the development of the campus building program.
 Recommend the establishment of citizen and trade advisory committees.
 Lend influence in the development of higher education programs in local, state and
national committees and organizations.
 Perform such other duties as may be assigned or delegated by the Board of Trustees.
 Report to the Board on the financial condition of the university a minimum of three times
each budget year.
 As a public library director, you are the department head of a city service and are
responsible for the day-to-day management of the library. The director acts as the
professional/technical adviser to the library board on policy, finances, planning, library
performance and more.

A library director's duties include:

 Oversight of the library budget and preparing reports as required by the board
 Managing library collections, including selecting all library material according to policies
approved by the board, oversight of cataloging and automated library systems
 Hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling library staff
 Supervising circulation of library material
 Cooperating with the board, community officials, and groups in planning library services
and publicizing library programs
 Supervising the maintenance of all library facilities and equipment.

Listed below are the some major areas of responsibility for the Dean Dean of collage head
of the department.

Develop, administer, and promote the academic programs and academic support functions of the
college including international programs;

 Develop recommendations for the nomination, retention, promotion, tenure, and


compensation of faculty, department chairs, and staff members in departments and units
assigned to the college
 Extend offers for employment or initiate a dismissal within the college in consultation
with the chairs, provost and legal counsel;
 Coordinate and promote academic proposals, changes, reviews, and other academic
matters with the other deans of the university, and other institutions and groups;
 Coordinate the departments and programs within the college including working with the
CPVA affiliate organizations:
 Develop and coordinate educational policies, planning functions and physical facilities
planning and utilization of the college;
 Provide leadership, conduct and implement strategic planning;

Supervisor Responsibilities
 Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans
and vision
 Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated
tasks
 Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching

Responsibilities of a Class Representative

 Get an undertaking from all the students that nobody will volunteer to give proxy for
others, during signing of attendance. Proxies identified will be reported.
 Should not take any matter to the teacher, which benefits only a few students, without
taking permission of the entire class. (e.g.: Shifting of class hours, tutorials, exam
schedule, alteration of marks distribution etc.).
 Keep a watch on the schedule for the entire semester and report/discuss with teachers for
any modification required well in advance (preferably more than a month).
 Expected to have good rapport with all students and have a cordial relation with them.
 Identify problem cases (students not studying/interested) and report to the teacher.
 Reporting to the teacher may be simply done by email, once in a week or two, unless
some urgent matters emerge.
