IN POLICE MANAGEMENT
(4 Years, Plus an Optional Foundation Year, Bachelor of Arts)

Students enrolled in this 4-Years plus an Optional Foundation Year program, earn a Bachelor
of Arts in Police Management. This program will equip students with the theoretical,
technical and empirical background necessary for the fight against crime and how to effectively
manage a security unit. The program will develop critical appreciation of the relationship
between the individual and social aspects of crime and victimization and the police
response to these issues. The program will utilize a variety of teaching and learning
techniques in order to develop a range of transferable academic and practical skills. This
programme has been designed for students intending to pursue a career in law enforcement
agencies in public and private sectors. This program consists of forty (40) courses and it
requires a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and pass mark is 50%.
• To define the theoretical, technical and empirical background of policing and criminology
necessary for the fight against crime and how to effectively manage efficiently
a security unit.
• To outline the principles which influence responses to crime both in theory and in
practice, including restorative justice programmes as well as the punitive measures
at the disposal of the legal system.
• To examine the social, historical, cultural and political contexts in which crimes
are committed and constructed and in which policy responses to offenders and victims
are produced.
• To integrate critical thinking on social, police, criminology and other the related fields.
• To evaluate and apply practical research skills and undertake independent research
project work in the field of policing and criminology.
