Stargazing is a truly unique song that birthed a new genre of psychedelic rap.

It is one of
the multiple platinum songs on Travis Scott's third studio album which was released on August
3rd, 2018. Travis Scott opened Astroworld with Stargazing, It brang a dark relaxed feeling in the
first half of the song setting the mood for the rest of the album. If you haven't picked it up
already Travis split the song into two completely different flows. It starts with a slow distorted
rhythm and later switches to a fast pace beat as Travis does frequently.

The song grew more and more popular during its debut due to its uniqueness. Travis
Scott has made songs of this fashion before but never this dark. The song was made to have an
eerie feel due to the theme of the album Astroworld. Astroworld is an abandoned theme park
that was a monument of Travs childhood and many others in the Houston, Texas area. He
makes it a sad case because he felt like as a child that was his escape from the reality living
with his single mother as an only child. In the music video for the song Travis is seen walking
through the abandoned theme park while its compiled with dust, meteorites, and fire. This
shows the heavy set empathy he carries for his long lost childhood.

Personally the song is as we would say is FIRE. The reason I love this song is the vibes
that it brings and its versatility. Whether you're cruising down Lake Shore or you're at your at
your best friends birthday party the song is always a good fit. I say the song is versatile because
of the two parts it is made of. If you’re looking to chill out the first part will definitely get the job
done for you. If not, you’re always able to resort to the latter for any of your rap or rage fix.

The song may seem bland in terms of lyricism but Travis pays tribute to both his family
and his hometown many times throughout the song. In the chorus he says “Sippin' on purp,
feelin' like the Barre Baby” the line pays homage to the legendary Houston, Texas rapper Big
Moe and a track he dropped in the year 2000 called “Barre Baby” from his album City of Syrup.
Also Trav mentions his family multiple times throughout the song, such as “I was hot as hell out
in the heat (Yeah, yeah)Then a storm came in and saved my life Head up to the sky, down on
my knees (Straight up) Out of nowhere, you came here to save the night” The storm that he
mentions in the line is a subliminal reference to his first born child named Stormi. Finally Scott
shouts out his baby’s mother in the second part of the song saying “Plus she know my baby
mama is a trophy”. Travis might not have written a story but he definitely put in time to express
the things he loves.

Overall I believe Travis killed it on this track. He brought us a new sub genre, gave us a
variety in one song, and expressed himself in a great way. To say the very least the whole
album was astonishing and astronomical.
