7 Effective Strategies for the Classroom

Reflection:
Teaching is part of a life-long learning process. For effective teaching, the teacher must be a good learner. I
realized that teaching is one of the most fulfilling activity I will perform in my life. Knowing or understanding
subjects does not necessarily mean I will be able to teach the subjects well. To enhance students’ learning, I
must create an appropriate learning environment through various teaching strategies and presentation methods.
There is no single best solution; I should continuously try new things and improve my teaching skills.

In our teaching careers, the biggest achievement we can make; is to succeed in creating a supportive
environment which nurtures the emotional, physical, social and intellectual developmental needs of each and
every one of our students. Being an effective, successful teacher does not mean you never make mistakes. It just
means we need to learn from them.

We must reflect on our teaching and vigilantly question our motives and practices. Then we can improve and
become effective teachers for our students. We must always remember children are like crayons. No matter
what color , what shape, what condition or how old they may be, they are capable of beautiful things when
given a loving hands to guide them.
Innovative Teaching Strategies that Improve Student Engagement

Five Teaching Strategies designed to challenge and engage students

Reflection:

Engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-

level critical thinking skills and promotes meaningful learning experiences. Teachers who adopt a student-

centered approach to instruction increase opportunities for student engagement, which then helps everyone

more successfully achieve the learning objectives. Active learning requires students to participate in class, as

opposed to sitting and listening quietly. Strategies include, but are not limited to, brief question-and-answer

sessions, discussion integrated into the lecture, impromptu writing assignments, hands-on activities and

experiential learning events.

Elementary school is an extremely important learning period in every child's life. These are the years when a

child's mind is being developed, when his opinion of himself in relation to the world around him is being

formed, and when his vision of the world is being established. These are just a few of the reasons why strong

foundations must be built in elementary grades and why it's important for teachers of elementary school

students to develop the teaching styles that best suit them and their classrooms. It is also essential for teachers to

be flexible and develop the ability to combine styles and adapt to the best learning styles of the students they are

teaching at a given time.

Some of the most common teaching styles used in classrooms today are the traditional lecture style, the hands-

on approach and hands-off approaches, the collaborative method, and demonstration or presentation.

understand, often it takes a combination of various styles to teach effectively, especially when children are

learning in groups of varied skill levels.

Being an elementary school teacher is, indeed, a serious and demanding undertaking. Teaching must be one of

the most significant means of aiding in the development of young minds and talents, as well as overcoming the

challenges each student faces. To be as effective as possible, as a teacher I learned that I must be educated in

many different teaching styles in order to combine, adapt, and fit to the styles and needs of individual students

as well as groups.
Effective Teaching Strategies for Elementary School Students

Reflection:

Helping students to learn and grow is a foundational belief of what I will strive to accomplish as a teacher.

Every single student has their own individual talents and strengths and I plan to cultivate these strengths to help

students become the best they can be. As every student’s learning is extremely important to me, I believe in

providing an engaging and welcoming learning environment which students truly enjoy. This will always be a

safe and positive environment for all students. My teaching strategies include elements of clarity, variability,

enthusiasm, and opportunities to learn and discover. These are essential components I possess and will

continually work to improve as an educator.

Additionally, effective teaching depends on different learning styles are implemented into lesson plans. It is

important for a teacher to realize that not every student learns in the same way. Some students may be better

visual learners while others are better at hands on activities. Incorporating different learning styles will let each

student have the ability to learn in a way that comes most natural to them.
