Labor Day Holiday


ASU will be closed next Monday, 9/3 in observance of Labor Day. There will be
no classes and all offices will be closed. You may still access team rooms with
your Sun Card.

Post-Orientation Survey
During the Orientation Welcome, Sr. Associate Dean Faris asked you to
participate and to give feedback. Here is your first opportunity! Please complete
the Post-Orientation Feedback Survey now! It will only take a few minutes and
your participation is very important. They survey will close on August 31st.

MSIM Workshops!
Here are the dates and topics for all of the Saturday workshops. Once we get
closer to each date, I will be registering you for these 1-credit workshops and
you will see them on your MyASU. Everyone is expected to attend. If you have
an unavoidable conflict, you must email me to request a drop no later than 1
week before a workshop. Late requests may result in a ‘W’ on your transcript.
More workshop specific info will come as we approach each workshop.

Register for WPC 594: Job Search Strategies Now!


Also during Orientation, you heard likely heard about an optional (not required)
career course in Quarter 2, WPC 594: Job Search Strategies. It is now time to
register yourself for it! It is a 1 credit graded course, but it will not cost you any
additional tuition. There are two sections of the course: Class #92693 on
Monday evenings and Class #92694 on Tuesday mornings; space is limited.
Please use the attached Registration Guide to enroll yourself.

Graduate Business Programs Club Fair (This Wednesday, 8/29/2018 12pm-


2pm)
Clubs are a great way to connect with other students and learn more about your
field. Join us at this event to learn more about the student clubs for graduate
students at W. P. Carey. The event is here in WPC Connect!

Tailgate (This Saturday, 9/1/2018 at 5:00pm)


The first tailgate is currently visible in WPC Connect. You can RSVP here. RSVP’s
close at 5pm on 8/31. If you signed-up and can no longer attend, you must
cancel your RSVP in WPC Connect before 8/31.

Suit-Up Event (9/9/2018 at 5:00pm)

AAUW International Fellowship


Deadline: November 15, 2018

The American Association of University Women’s International Fellowship program has


been in existence since 1917. The program provides support ($18,000 Master’s/first
professional degree, $20,000 Doctoral, and $30,000 Postdoctoral) for women pursuing
full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States who are not U.S. citizens or
permanent residents. A limited number of awards are available for study outside of the
United States (excluding the applicant’s home country) to women who are members of
Graduate Women International (see the list of GWI affiliates). Preference is given to women
who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic,
community, or professional work.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria:


 Have citizenship in a country other than the United States or possession of a
nonimmigrant visa if residing in the United States. Women holding dual
citizenship in the United States and another country or who are permanent legal
residents of the United States are not eligible.
 Hold an academic degree (earned in the United States or abroad) equivalent to a U.S.
bachelor’s degree completed by September 30 of the year of application.
 Intend to devote herself full-time to the proposed academic plan during the
fellowship year
 Intend to return to her home country to pursue a professional career
 Be proficient in English.
 Master’s/first professional degree and doctoral applicants must have applied by the
time of their application, to an accredited institution of study for the period of the
fellowship year and be enrolled in a U.S. accredited institution located in the
United States during the fellowship year.
 Applicants must be conducting a full year of study or research.
Recipients are selected for academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to
women and girls. Recipients return to their home countries to become leaders in business,
government, academia, community activism, the arts, and sciences.
