For the multimodal project we chose a magazine but I personally consider it more
of a portfolio of change. We chose this route because it seemed like the easiest way to
have all of our topics be both individual and apart of the bigger picture or core of what
we were going for. We chose to include what we’are basic summaries of the topic and
what we have been writing about this semester thus far. Including only a few point so
the reader wasn’t overwhelmed with all of the new information. Excluding things we felt
condensed. For our rhetorical appeals we chose to use mostly logos. We used mostly
logos because we felt that it was the best way to reach and connect to the readers
The overall quality of the project was good. Not just because I exported them as
large files and in max quality from photoshop but also because it’s different. We didn’t
do the run of the mill google slideshow, we made it and designed it fully ourselves. Also
because we found a way to keep all of our topics how they were and add in how they
connected. For the roles played I played the role of the designer so to speak. My
strengths aligned with the designing part of this project. With what I learned thus far in
Graphic Design we were able to make something outside of those premade typical
online templates or the same old slideshow presentation everyone does. My weakness
has and always be writing because words get boring and I constantly feel like I’m saying
the same thing. Amelia’s strengths included grammar and work cited pages. She did a
really good job at putting together the work cited page full of our individual sources and
images we used. She also did a good job of giving me a layout of what she wanted for
her page. Jacobs strengths included helping to check grammar. His weaknesses were
pretty much he just didn’t really know what he wanted for his page creatively. A overall
strength for both group members was they got their work done with enough time for me
to put it into Photoshop which is always good. I mean we all did our part, got it done,
and turned it in on time without huss or fuss. For Jacob a easy A. For Amelia a easy A
as well.
The understanding rhetoric for me has grown a lot since the beginning of the
year. I now understand that by using rhetoric in writing improves it drastically. It helps a
writer cater their writing better to the people them are writing for. You could use one or a
mix of the three pieces of the rhetorical triangle to fit best to what you want to convey.
It's a great tool for persuasion in not only writing but in other media forms as well.
Another thing I learned in Composition I & II was more about argumentative writing.
With being in a college class I expected to learn the same stuff but I actually learned a
lot more. For one I learned how to use rhetoric to help argumentation. The use of
in class was use primary resources and conduct primary data.Turns out that conducting
primary research is a lot harder than it seems. A lot goes into it from the questions to
trying to collect all of the data. As far as using primary research it felt a lot easier
because the questions being asked were exactly what I needed for my paper. My view
of myself as a writer has changed a lot because going into this class I thought it would
be a breeze. I got A’s in my other english classes so far but it turns out writing is a lot
more than just words. I know more now so I see myself as a little bit better of a writer
but I feel like I understand how to write better. More so now than at the beginning of
these composition courses the use and understanding of rhetoric in different means is
myself more on how to write. As for improving my weaknesses i’ll make more of a
