We wish to submit an original research article entitled “Analytical Modelling of the Natural Frequency of
Tympanic Membrane as the Low-Frequency Limit of Hearing” for consideration your esteemed journal.
We confirm that this work is original and has not been published elsewhere, nor is it currently under
consideration for publication elsewhere.

In this paper, we show that that the Tympanic Membrane act as low-frequency limiter of acoustic
stimulus. This is significant because the low-frequency limit of hearing has never been truly compared
against the natural frequency of the TM.

We believe that this manuscript is appropriate for publication in your journal because it theoretically
examines a basic auditory mechanism and implications.

We analaysed the low-frequency limit of hearing of the mammalian ear through analytical modelling of
the natural frequency of the tympanic membrane. The resulting equation obtained for the natural
frequency of the tympanic membrane is verified and is then validated through the favorable comparison
between the calculated theoretical values of our study against the data on the low-frequency limit of
hearing from past studies. This implies that the tympanic membrane act as low-frequency limiter of
acoustic stimulus.
