Clothing is a basic necessity of life. No one can live without clothing in the contemporary

world. People demand more and more, and this is how fashion designers come about. Fashion

designer is a popular job for a person who wants creativity and space to work. You can also

make a lot of money. Fashion designers have a long history. Since WWI, fashion culture began

developing at an extreme speed. Fashion designers were using their knowledge and creativity to

push the fashion envelope , however before they exerted their artistic talent, it is important to

relate of fashion’s knowledges.

To be a fashion designer, people must relate to fashion first. No one can become a

famous fashion designer without basic knowledge. Data from all art schools show the most

important classes and essential skills for fashion designers are “Consumer Behavior &

Persuasive Sales Technique, Brand Strategy, Textile Fundamentals, Early-modern history of

fashion and 3D Visual Merchandising” These are the core courses people must take that are

accredited by NASAD. Fashion designers need knowledge of Fashion history about previous

styles and movement. They also have to learn business, to know the ins and outs of the

business, because creativity and the ability to perform under pressure are skills that fashion

designers need, as well as artistic ability and originality. These skills are the footstone of the

world of fashion design.

In Valerie Steele’s book, there is a passage that says “Perception of the observer and

wearer of fashion are sharpened based upon the many potential variations in line, shapes,

textures and colors. Fashion changes occurred in the layout of garment, which in turn focused

occurred by layout! Actually layout is one of the most important parts that shows a fashion

designer’s creativity.

Fashion designers’ work not only stay at their office all day. This job have free

expression space, however this doesn’t mean people can lazy around at working time. Bureau of

may required to travel to production site across their country and overseas. Designers have to

meet with their clients during evening or weekend hours, if designers work on a contract. They

large-scale retail or luxury brand. They custom-make designs for film and music industries, too.

designers usually work 2 seasons, they have to consider who might buy or wear their designs,

and how much will cost to produce, then liaising with buyers and forecasters to predict the

However, not everyone is able to buy the luxury raiment. Luxury raiment usually adopt

expensive fabric and fashion brand design. Stephania Laru said there are few fashion designers

pick different consumers to woking for. They usually making designs are that luxury but cheap.

Some famous fashion designers want to keep low price, they have to use cheap material.They

sell their work at Walmart, Target, H&M,etc. These place are the mass market, and more people

can enjoy in high-quality fashion even they don’t have too much money.

Despite the claims of some people, I still think fashion designers have low prospects in

the future, however this doesn’t influence anything. Fashion designer is good job with high wage

and free work space widely accepted by people. People have to strive and get this dreamy

creatives’ job position. Actually, if more person pay attention on their cloth style as Dale

Southerton as he tells about. I will pick this job, no matter how a strong the competition in the

workplace looks like, at least the consumers’ demand don’t go down. People is a white paper,

clothing is the painting on white paper. There are still many people left whose really need

fashion designers making clothing for them.
