What challenges do you foresee in college? Specifically mention 3 example.

I decided to go to a college far away from home. I want to explore myself and see what I

can do without depending on my parents. Three challenges that I foresee in college are; standing

on my own, adjusting in the environment and feeling homesick. These challenges stood out for

me because these are basically my fears. First, standing on my own, I lived my whole life with

my mother and even once we never separated. Going to college will be my first time being on

my own and having a full responsibility on making decisions that will affect my life. I have to

be mature enough to think what is good and bad for me. I am not used to do things on my own. I

always depend it to my mom or my friends because I am afraid that if I get rejected or not get the

outcome that I want, I will just embarrassed myself. Second, adjusting in the environment will be

a challenge to me because at my home I am the youngest and all the people I am living with are

in their early 50’s therefore I am not used to be with people that are the same age as I do. I am

not familiar with the weather or the food that I will going to eat. Living in a dorm itself scares

me because I feel like I am going to mess up or that the people will not be nice. Also, it will be

with students with different characteristics and personality. I need to do my best in order to

maintain a good relationship with them. Lastly, being homesick. The longest time that my mom

and I got separated was a week and it was my 4th grade camping. I recall crying every night

because I want my mother to be with me. I worry about her so much because I know that she is

not used to be away with me too. I know that will be a challenge not just for me but also my

mother. All my life I was with her but now I will leave her to be one step closer to my dreams. I

worry that she will be alone and my step-father will keep on hurting her.

All these challenges I am willing to face because I know these will make me a better

person than I am right now. I always say that I want to be independent and I want to grow

therefore I should be willing to do whatever it takes to reach my dream. I know I will overcome

these challenges as time goes by.
