Pride
An accomplishment I take pride on is competing at regional and state level for my club.
The club that I competed in was FCCLA. FCCLA is an acronym for Family, Career and
Community Leaders of America, it’s a nonprofit national career and technical student
organization for those in Family and Consumer Sciences education. During state conference,
which was held in Riverside, CA, I competed in a event called Decorated Wedding Cakes, our
goal was to plan and decorate a 3 tier styrofoam cake as well as use materials that they had
specifically said to use and demonstrate on our presentation. We were also to compete against
students from different schools and regions in California. Although I did not place or win first, I
did earn a certificate and I made many new friends across California. This was very significant
for me, as it was my last year in FCCLA, but it gave me a lots of experience of what it feels like
to not win,and honestly, just to have fun. I’m very grateful my club for giving me this experience
closer to them.
