SINOPSIS

Penulisan tesis ini sebenarnya adalah merupakan suatu

usaha penulis untuk melihat teori sekaligus konsep al-F&b;

mengenai kenegaraan yang dihuraikannya di dalam kitab F? Mabsdi'

Era> Ah1 al-Mad&ah al-Fzdilah. Dari adut struktur penulisan,

tesis ini dibahagikan kepada lima Rab. Dalam Bab I, peoulis cuba

meninjau sudut keperibadian al-Farzb? dan aktiviti pengilmuannya

serta situasi sosio-politik di zamannya sendiri, yang telah mem-

beri pengaruh terhadap aliran pemikirannya. Bab II pula, kitab

FE Mabid 'iraY Ah1 al-Madl'nah al-Fadilah itu sendiri diterangkan,

Kemudian disusuli dengan pemikiran falsafah al-Farabi meliputi

persoalan-persoalan kewujudan Allah, 'Alam dan juga manusia,

dengan menekankan aspek-aspek yang berkaitan dengan teori kene-

garaan.

Dalam Bab III, masalah pokok dalam teori kenegaraan al-

F$abF itu dihuraikan. Umpamanya persoalan tabiat hidup manusia,

klasifikasi negara, Negara Terbaik dan sebaliknya, tujuan penubu-

han negara, akhlak dan ideologi rakyat dan lain-lain lagi. Di-
susuli perbincangan masalah kepimpinan menurut pandangan al&-

rabz dalam Rab IV. Ketua Negara adalah satu juzuk yang penting

dalam teori politik al-Farabl". Dslam Rah V pula, idea sebenar

perbincangan ialah kajian penulis terhadap kedudukan politik

al-F%bi dalam kontek falsafah politik. Apakah beliau telah

terpengaruh dengan ciri-ciri pemikiran Greek terutamanya Plato

dan Aristotle? Perhatian juga ditumpukan kepada sejauhmana

serasinya pandangan al-Farab? dengan basik-basik pemikiran serta

peradaban Islam. Soalan-soalan ini dan lain-lain masalah yang

berkaitan dengannya, dianalisa dalam Rab ini.

Tesis ini diakhiri dengan bahagian penutup yang merupa-

kan suatu rumusan menyeluruh tetapi dalam bentuk serba ringkas,

terhadap keseluruhan permasalahan yang terangkum di dalam lima

bab itu.

SYNOPSIS

This Thesis is a writer's effort to analyse the theory

as well as the concept of state as pictured by al-F&abI in his

book F? Mabadi' irzl Ah1 al-Mad&ah al-Fzdilah. The structure

of this thesis is divided into five chapters. In Chapter I,

the writer attempts to focus on the personality of al-FarabI,

his intellectual activities and the situation of Socio-Politic

background of his time, which influenced his thought. In Chapter

II, the book itself Fz Mabadi' &a' Ah1 al-Mad&ah al-Fidilah is

analysed extensively. It is followed by al-F'arab.i:'s philosopical

thought covering the existence of God, Univers and Man, with

special emphasis on the theory of state.

In Chapter,III, the fundamental problem relating to the

theory of nation is finally discussed, i.e., the nature of man,

the clasification of State, excellence (Virtuous) State and the

worst (ignorant), the aim of the creation of State, ethic and

citisen's ideology etc. It is followed by the problem of Leader-

ship through al-Farabi's vision in Chapter IV. The Head of State
is the most essential part in the political theory of al-F'&bI.

In Chapter V, thesis of discussion is about the writer's

assessment regarding the place or status of al-F$abi's politics

in the light of political philosophy. Was he influenced by the

Greek philosophers, in particular Plato and Aristotle? Special

attention is made to what extent his thought at par with the

bases of Islamic Civilization, These questions and other problems

are also analyzed in this chapter. In the final part of this

thesis is a general conclusion of the whole problems which are

included in the five chapters.
