How long and how many people does it take to work on one song?

The song “The Middle” by

Zedd, Grey and Maren Morris received its premier at the 60th Annual Grammy Award on
January 28th, 2018. Before settling on Morris’ vocals, Zedd and Grey had tried the vocals of
over 12 female singers. After many auditions they chose Maren Morris to sing the song. Why
didn’t they chose one of the twelve singers?

The song “In the Middle” by Zedd, Grey and Maren Morris, has been skyrocketing for the top
pop song of the year. It has a upbeat, yet steadily tempo. The instruments that they use at the
beginning of the songs sounds like clock ticking and when the chorus comes they use different
tracks and an electric guitar. It was released in January 28th, 2018 and it reached 74M views on
youtube which to be honest I thought that it will have more views, but the lyric version reached
253M views. I pick this song cause it took a while for just one song which I found it’s pretty
interesting. All that time and effort they did just for with that one song. But, to be honest when
you hear this song or any other songs multiple times, it can get a little annoying.

From the video called the the diary of the song “The middle”. It all started when Zedd and Grey
were listening to a couple of demos. And in one of the demo they found something interesting, it
was a 23 year old girl who and she sing “Meet me in the middle”. They both listen to the demo
and the thing they found interesting was the beat that she played in the piano. So Zedd, Grey
and their team want to make a song out of that. So, they wanted to find a singer that is perfect
for the song. After listening a bunch of famous singers like Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and
etc. They were gonna call it quits, but after listening to Maren Morris they found the passion in
her voice just like Sarah, the person on the demo did. And after making a couple calls, they
made the song. “We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be
able to finally share it with everyone. It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly
an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because
we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.” Zedd said
from the video diary. I think that it is interesting that they have dedication and effort into it and
song out of a person demo.

Singing from Maren Morris perspective in the first verse it talks about the environment they live
in “ Take a seat right over there, sat on the stairs. Stay or leave, the cabinets are bare and I'm
unaware. Of just how we got into this mess, got so aggressive. I know we meant all good
intentions”. You can see that in the first part of the song it describe the heavy, tension
atmosphere between the couple. She sings about how she’s tired for constantly quarreling with
her significant other and tells him/her to “ Meet me in the middle”. So they can bring a end of
their quarreling.
