SIMPLE SENTENCE – is a group of words that
expresses a complete thought.
What are the two parts of a sentence?
1. Subject – tells who or what is asked in the
the sentence.
2. Predicate – tells about the subject.
Compound Sentence – made of 2 or more
simple sentence. These are joined by
coordinate conjunction.
Simple sentence are constructed in 4 ways:
1. Simple Subject and Simple Predicate
2. Compound Subject and Simple Predicate
3. Simple Subject and Compound Predicate
4. Compound Subject and Compound Predicate
Example:
A. Simple Subject and Simple Predicate
1. Plants give of oxygen.
2. Chlorophyll is the green coloring
in the leaves of plants.
3. Stomata is a tiny opening or pore in
the leaves of plants used for gas
exchange.
4. The Philippines is blessed with
many natural resources.

How about the predicate? - one predicate

B. Compound Subject and Simple Predicate


1. Maureen and I went hiking.
2. Santan and Sampaguita are fragrant
flowers.
3. Dogs and cats are man’s bestfriend .
When two or more subjects are used with the
same predicate they are called Compound Subject.
Conjunction is used to join words or group of
words.
