ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTION: MATERIALS & METHODS

COURSE SUMMARY
To enable students understand the role of materials and methods of construction. The primary focus is on
their properties and their intrinsic relationship to structural systems and environmental performance. Stu
develop a fundamental understanding of the relationship of materiality to construction systems and techni
building materials are manufactured, and how a material’s modular form, dimensions and intrinsic qualitie
the design process and will also know how to select different material usages for different parts of a struct
Students will acquire knowledge on different types of loads acting on a structure and types of structures. O
successful completion of this course, student should be able to select the use of appropriate material for di
parts of the structure.
