COMPLIANCE: This service bulletin is optional and can be done at the discretion of the operator.
SUMMARY: To configure the FASTTM System on Grand Caravan EX airplanes that are installing the
FASTTM processor as a post-delivery retrofit.
This service bulletin provides instructions for the FAST TM System to install an optional SIM
card, set up the ground system equipment, and configure and test the processor.

3. Accomplishment Instructions

A. Activate Customer Accounts


(1) Reference P&WC SIL PT6A-215 to obtain access to the P&WC Customer Portal.
(2) If GSM wireless transmission of data via a cellular service is desired, reference P&WC SIL PT6A-
215 for SIM card requirements.
(3) If GSM wireless transmission of data via a cellular service is desired, reference P&WC SIL PT6A-
215 and fill out the applicable sections of the Customer Activation Form.

(4) Complete the Customer Activation Form, reference P&WC SIL PT6A-215 to activate the FAST
system.

NOTE: A Customer Activation Form (CAF) must be completed before a FAST system can be
configured. The configuration files will be emailed to the email address listed in the CAF and can also
be retrieved from the Webserver via internet connection.
Forms must be submitted 5 business days prior to FASTTM system activation. This will allow time
for the WebECTM account set up and the verification of the customer’s information. Incomplete
forms will not be processed and could cause delays in activating and configuring the account.

DPHM or customer.activation@pwc.ca

B. Install SIM Card

NOTE: If not using this feature, proceed to section C.

(1) Install the SIM card in FASTTM processor (FAST-A-010-4-V1), if using the GSM capability of the
TM
FAST system. Remove the 2 hex screws (1/16) that secure the SIM Card Door located on
the back of the FASTTM (near J1 / J2). The SIM card tray can be ejected by pressing the small
button at the bottom of the SIM Card Opening, as shown in Figure 1.

C. Install The FASTTM System Processor

(1) Reference Cessna Service Bulletin CAB-77-01 to install the FAST system processor.

D. FASTTM System Configuration

The FASTTM System is required to be configured prior to first activation.

(1) Ensure the MonitorTM software and the USB download cable drivers are installed on your
computer (Reference P&WC SIL PT6A-215).
(2) Launch the MonitorTM program by clicking on the MonitorTM Icon, as shown in Figure 2.
NOTE: The MonitorTM Help Manual can be found within the Monitor TM application in the help menu
and can be referenced for further detail in completing the following steps.

(3) Retrieve the configuration files.


Use Option 1 if internet access is available or Option 2 if internet access is not available

(a) Click on the “Sync to Webserver” button as shown in Figure 3 to retrieve the configuration
file.

(b) Enter your FASTTM processor serial number as shown in the example in Figure 4 and click
OK.

(c) Wait for the Sync to Webserver to complete


Option 2
(a) Retrieve the email sent from PWC DPHM Support containing the configuration files
(b) Copy the files received via e-mail and place them in the following folder which was created
when the Transfer Module was installed on your computer.
C:\GBS-PWC\bin\Monitor\FAST_DATA\cfgfiles
(4) Connect the Communication Cable (ADAS-C-053-1) between your laptop computer’s USB port
and the FASTTM J3 Comm Port.
(5) Turn the aircraft power on.
(6) Click on the “Sync to Aircraft” button, as shown in Figure 5 to load the configuration to the
aircraft. If the log retrieval screen appears, complete items a) and b) below. Otherwise
continue to item (7)
a) Choose all the log files and click on the start button
b) Wait for the system to complete retrieving the log files. The system will automatically load
the configuration file once the log retrieval is completed

NOTE: The FAST System will automatically reboot once the configuration file has been
successfully loaded and will take approximately 1 minute.
(7) Wait until the FASTTM System reboot is completed and then click on the “Close” button, as
shown in Figure 5.

(8) Click on the “Monitor Status” button, as shown in Figure 6 to view the FASTTM System status.

E. View/Change FASTTM System Parameters

(1) Click on Monitor in the bar menu

(2) Choose “View/Change Monitor Parameters”, as shown in Figure 7

(3) Enter the following values from the aircraft/engine logbook in the New Value column;
(a) Engine Serial Number (VAXXXX)
(b) Cumulative Creep CT (%) – Instructions for the calculation can be found in the EMM

(c) Cumulative Creep PT (%) – Instructions for the calculation can be found in the EMM

(d) Cumulative Engine Run Time (hours)

(5) Select the write button.

(6) The entered values will move to the “Current Value” column. Verify the “current values” values
are appropriately refreshed.

F. FASTTM Monitor Live Data Test

(1) Perform engine run with the laptop connected to the FASTTM processor via USB cable (Reference
the Pilot’s Operating Handbook).
(2) Click on “Live Data”
(3) Place a check mark on top left box to view all sensors. Refer to Figure 10 for an example of the
Live Data Selection screen.

(4) Confirm that all sensors are showing valid values. An invalid value will show in red, as
shown in Figure 11

G. FASTTM Automatic Transmission (GSM) Test and Data Retrieval

NOTE: The full transmission test is only applicable for FASTTM systems with a SIM card installed;
however, for airplanes without the SIM card installed a partial test can be performed.
(1) Turn aircraft power off
(2) Caution: The FASTTM system latches to battery power for 10 minutes after aircraft power is off.
Transmission test must be completed inside 10 minutes.
(3) For airplanes with SIM card installed, click on “Test Monitor Transmission” and confirm that all
status messages indicate “PASS”, as shown in Figure 12.
(4) For airplanes without the SIM card installed, click on “Test Monitor Transmission” and confirm that
the first five status messages indicate “PASS”.

NOTE: The transmission is completed via a cellular GSM connection and may not transmit in the
hangar. A GSM signal of -95 dB or higher is considered an acceptable signal.
(5) Close the Monitor Transfer Module program and disconnect the Communication Cable between
your laptop computer’s USB port and the FASTTM J3 Comm Port.
(6) Log into your WebECTM account at www.webectm.ca as shown in Figure 13.

(7) Click on Transaction Logs on the left side under Engine Management tab as shown in Figure 14.
NOTE: You may need to click on the arrow next to Engine Management to get the Transaction
Logs selection to appear.
(8) Confirm that a Transaction Log is posted on WebECTM and that the engine S/N is correct. An
example of a transaction log is shown in Figure 14.

H. FASTTM Manual Upload and Data Retrieval

NOTE: Only applicable for FASTTM systems with a SIM card NOT installed

(1) Ensure that aircraft power is ON.


(2) Connect the Communication Cable between your laptop computer’s USB port and the FASTTM J3
Comm Port.
(3) Open the Monitor Transfer Module program.
(4) Click on the “Sync to Aircraft” button, as shown in Figure 5 to retrieve log files.
(5) After log files retrieval is completed click on the “Close” button, as in Figure 5.
(6) Wait for log file retrieval complete message. When the log files have been successfully
downloaded, connect the laptop to the internet.
(7) Click on the “Sync to Webserver” button, as shown above in Figure 3. The program will perform
the following functions:
(8) Upload any log files to WebECTM
(9) Downloads any configuration files to the laptop
(10) Downloads any updates to the Transfer Module program
(11) Log into your WebECTM account at www.webectm.ca as shown in Figure 15

(12) Click on Transaction Logs on the left side under Engine Management tab as shown in Figure 16.

COMPLIANCE: Cessna Grand Caravan EX operators, that choose not to use the FAST System cellular
transmission function (SIM Card), are required to perform this service bulletin every 50
engine starts. Operators Utilizing WebECTM services for trend monitoring must continue to
comply with SIL NO.GEN -055. This requirement is in addition to SIL NO.GEN -055.

SUMMARY: This service bulletin provides requirements and instructions for manually downloading data

of the FAST System when cellular transmission (SIM Card) is not being used by the
operator. Manual data download is needed to prevent a PFD CAS message (ETM FAULT)

due to the FAST System’s memory filling up

(3) Connect the USB Download Cable between your laptop computer’s USB port and the FAST J3
Comm Port.
(4) Launch the MonitorTM program by clicking on the MonitorTM Icon, as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE: The MonitorTM Help Manual can be found within the Monitor TM application in the help menu
and can be referenced for further detail in completing the following steps.

(5) Click on the “Sync to Aircraft” button, as shown in Figure 2 to retrieve log files.
NOTE: If 50 engine stars has been exceeded since last log file retrieval, the retrieval of the log
files could take several hours

(6) Wait for log file retrieval complete message. Log file retrieval progress will be indicated by a
progress bar as shown in Figure 2. When the log files have been successfully downloaded, click
on the “Close” button.

(7) Turn aircraft power OFF


(8) Disconnect the USB Download Cable from the FAST unit and the laptop computer
NOTE: Operators without a WebECTM account doing their own trend monitoring can retrieve the log
files from the following location: C:\GBS-PWC\bin\Monitor\FAST_DATA\logs
(9) Connect the laptop computer to the internet
(10) Launch the MonitorTM program by clicking on the MonitorTM Icon, as shown in Figure 1.

(11) Click on the “Sync to Webserver” button and enter the FAST unit serial number as shown in
Figure 3. The program will perform the following functions:
(a) Upload any log files to WebECTM
(b) Download any configuration files to the laptop
(c) Download any updates to the Transfer Module program

(12) “Sync to Webserver Process completed” will be indicated in the lower panel of the MonitorTM
screen to indicate that the synchronization to the Webserver is complete.

(13) Log into your WebECTM account at www.webectm.ca as shown in Figure 4

(14) Click on Transaction Logs on the left side under Engine Management tab as shown in Figure 5.
NOTE: You may need to click on the arrow next to Engine Management to get the Transaction

(15) Confirm that a Transaction Log is posted on WebECTM and that the engine S/N is correct. An
example of a transaction log is shown in Figure 5.

SUMMARY: The software change is minor and limited to an update of the Internal MicroServer (MS) that
manages the data offload (DAL-E Software). This software update improves the robustness
of the cellular connection to the data server and corrects minor server configuration issue.

downloaded as described below.

3. Accomplishment Instructions

A. Connect to FAST unit:

(1) Connect the Communication Cable (ADAS-C-053-1) between your laptop computer’s USB port

and the FAST J3 Comm Port.
(2) Turn the aircraft power on

B. Confirm Micro-Server Software version:

(1) Download the FAST MonitorTM Software from the P&WC Customer portal :
(a) Login to P&WC Customer Portal https://eportal.pwc.ca
(b) Select “View My Library” / “My Publications”
(c) In “My PT6A-140 Publications” / “Other Publications”, select “FAST MonitorTM software” and
select the option “Run” to install the program on your laptop
(d) Connect the FAST USB Download cable between the laptop and the FAST J3 Comm Port.
Turn aircraft power on to power the FAST unit.

(2) Launch the MonitorTM program by clicking on the MonitorTM Icon, as shown in Fig. 1.
NOTE 1: Ensure the FAST GSE cable USB driver is previously installed as per instructions in
MonitorTM Help Manual

NOTE 2: The MonitorTM Help Manual can be found within the Monitor TM application in the help
menu and can be referenced for further detail in completing the following steps.

(3) Select the “Monitor Status” button, as shown in Figure 2 to view the Monitor Health Status.
(4) The PW_VER line (Micro-Server version) should read 2.91. See Figure 2 below.
(5) If Micro-Server version is below v2.91 perform the upgrade following step B or C.

C. Method to locally upgrade Micro-Server software using P&WC Portal:

(1) Ensure A/C is available and powered uninterrupted for at least 15 minutes while the software
upgrade process is completed.
(2) Login to P&WC Customer Portal https://eportal.pwc.ca
(3) Select “View My Library” / “My Publications”
(4) In “My PT6A-140 Publications” / “Other Publications”, select “FAST Micro-Server 2.91 Loader”
document and select Save option to save the program locally
(5) Execute FAST Micro-server Loader program by selecting 3077269_EN.exe saved at previous
step
(6) Follow steps as instructed by the program
(7) Confirm Micro-Server version 2.91 was installed successfully by performing step A
