Statement of Purpose

First of all, I would like to introduce myself as ….., born on 18th of February 1998 and a
permanent resident of Deepnagar-09, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rupandehi, Nepal. I
am planning to study Bachelors of Information and Communication Technology course in
University of Sunshine Coast, Sydney campus, Australia.

I have an outstanding academic performance and good English proficiency till date and
expect to give continuity to the further course of action. I accomplished my School Leaving
Certificate Examination (SLC) in the academic year 2014 from Shining Star English
Boarding School, Rupandehi, Nepal securing distinction with 85.25 percentages. After
completion of secondary education, I took admission in Everest English Boarding Higher
Secondary School for higher secondary education. I majored in science faculty in 2014 and
secured distinction with an aggregate score of 82 percentages in 2016. My overall scores
have been quite strong, with especially high scores on computer related courses, which is
due to my strong interest in the subject. After my schooling I decided to pursue my further
education from abroad as I believe that acquiring degree from foreign universities will refine
my expertise in the subject and help me acquire broader point of view.

I also came to know from my fellow friends and family that only a handful of colleges and
universities provide quality education in Nepal. However, they have quota systems, limited
seats and are influenced by political systems. So, I researched about overseas education and
learned about various admission requirements such as scoring high on English Proficiency
Tests such as IELTS, PTE, TOEFL etc. Accordingly, I appeared for IELTS examination on
24th September 2016 and secured overall band score of 6, which makes me eligible for
admission in my chosen university.

I had already made up my mind to earn a well-renowned degree from foreign university
after completing my higher secondary level. Further, the globally recognized qualification
of Australia with world class educational services and facilities for the local and the
international students strengthened my decision. Most of the top ranked universities are
located in Australia. It is also one of the most sought abroad destinations for study as many
international students like me choose Australia for further study every year.

Australia has always been the best destination for many students pursuing quality education.
International scholars choose Australia to attain higher education because of the high quality
of education, friendly environment, diverse culture and high standards of living in the world.
Besides, Australia provides best opportunities for students based on student mix,
affordability, quality of life and recreational activities. The country is widely known for its
swiftness in adopting various new technologies. Australia also offers an extensive range of
study options for every student. Accounting, information technology, various science
courses, actuarial courses, business courses and other undergraduate and postgraduate
courses are available in Australian Universities and Colleges at affordable costs. Australian
education system is recognized internationally for its effective structure. I have also
assembled a good deal of information from very useful and reliable websites such as
www.studyinaustralia.gov.au and www.border.gov.au. I found Australia more secure and
best for higher education in the context of living, physical and financial safety, and laid back
nature. After my extensive research for about six months on relevant course and preferable
university in Australia, I am fully convinced that Australia is a great destination for me.

When I compared Australia with other education destinations, I found that we need to face
competitive examinations such as SAT and ACT (American College Testing) in USA;
however in Australia it is sufficient with IELTS test only. Moreover, I am regularly updated
through television and other news sources that due to terrorist attacks in various countries,
they are not safe for living. In addition to those, unlike Australia, countries like UK have
very high currency value making it difficult to cover up the living expenses. Comparatively,
in Australia, peace and security is prevalent and is much economic for international
students. It is also interesting to note that, Australia provides protection of tuition schemes
and fees, and also ensures the quality of education to international students, but there are no
such facilities available in UK and the USA.

Sydney is the biggest city in Australia. It is a great destination to live and study for both
national and international students. In addition, it is also considered as the most livable city
and vibrant-culture culinary and sporting capital with world class education providers
offering credentials recognized by international institutions and employers. I believe
Australia to be a great place to begin my career pathway and build networking connection.
Sydney stands ahead in being friendliest city of world that is home to world eminent
institutions as well. For accommodation, I have explored apartments near ATMC via
websites such as www.mehouse.com/rent/Sydney and www.stayz.com/Sydney and I am
sure that I will get affordable apartments as the cost per week for shared apartments will not
exceed AUD $250.

I visited some colleges and universities in my own country immediately after completion of
my higher education however, I found them to lack expert faculties and modern tools of
teaching. To have a proper and strong base in IT and to compete globally, I prefer acquiring
international degree rather than doing any ordinary courses in my own home country.
Education system in Nepal has always been the major concern as they lack the practical
education system and the courses are not revised since a very long time. Moreover, most of
the degree that we gain here will have no any international value. Considering all these
factors and comparing them, I have chosen Australia over my home country Nepal.
Similarly, due to political instability in my country and its influence on education
departments, there are past records of disturbances in the college premises, irregular
schedules and late result systems which will be a big problem for any student like me.

I found the similar courses available in various universities such as Central Queensland
University, University of New South Wales, Australian Catholic University, Southern Cross
University and University of the Sunshine Coast. Among them, I chose University of the
Sunshine Coast, Sydney campus because it is a reputed university in Australia. Moreover, it
is a vibrant and contemporary Australian university with campus in various cities including
a campus in Australia’s largest city Sydney. The University has a strong student focus and
takes pride in the quality of its lecturers, many of whom are recognized as leaders in their
fields. Henceforth, I will be studying at Australian Technical and Management College
(ATMC) in Sydney which is offering University of the Sunshine Coast course in the heart of
Sydney.

I have chosen ATMC as my education provider since, ATMC is a reputed institution and
has small class size with students focused learning environment at affordable costs. Almost
all students who have graduated from the university have received very good employment
opportunities. Along with the innovative technologies and skills, ATMC provides unique
features such as student mentorship program where seniors assist juniors to adapt with new
environment, job assistance program to help students link with jobs easily and various other
amenities such as modern library with large online database, etc.

With a big leap of faith to fulfill my dream of being a competitive IT professional, I need
good quality of education, right type of opportunities, challenges, rewards and satisfaction
which will be evidently fulfilled by my chosen university in Australia. Diploma in IT is an
innovative system designed for major technological industry partners and has high demand
in Nepal. After completion of Bachelor in Information Technology, a professional IT
student can start their career as programmer, multimedia developer, system administrator,
software developer, database administrator, project manager, web developer and technical
support personnel. Having keen interest and professional education from international
university, I will easily get a job that fits my financial and intellectual expectations.
Similarly, upon the completion of the program, past records of the university shows that the
graduates will have industry recognized qualifications and build strong foundation to
become leader in the Computer Field with the ability to design and implement up to date
computer-based system including those related to internet technology, multimedia and web-
based applications. Students like me will also have the opportunity to specialize in a
particular aspect of ICT-related work. This course is ideal for students who are seeking
computer-based courses with desired outcome. I am well aware of the course structure of
Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology as it has the full duration of 3
years and the course content includes five minor units, eight introductory courses and three
advanced courses, on storage, information system, software development, system design and
telecommunications and networking.

After my course, I will be eligible for PSW in Australia which can be utilized to gain
experience of international work environment and understanding of organizational work
style. I will also have the opportunity to be able to mix with international culture and learn
many more things from them. My country lacks manpower in Computer Technology to
handle the complex problem which is why, after coming back to my homeland, there will be
ample of opportunities to explore. As developing country like Nepal needs skilled personnel
like me, so I have set up my mind to come and work for the diversified organizations
through Multinational IT Companies, Telecom Companies such as NEPAL TELECOM and
NCELL, IGATE Chaudhary Group, Software Companies, Donor Agencies and INGO’S as
a Computer Consultant, Computer Programmer, IT Officer/ Manager. After completing the
course, gaining experience and returning to Nepal, I will be capable enough to earn around
NPR 80,000 per month. In this way, I think I will be proficient in handling this errand easily
subsequent to finishing the course. This system will empower me to accomplish my
objectives and shape up my future appropriately. I wish to contribute to my country with the
inventive abilities that I have developed from the college. In addition, I have my family
living in Nepal so I have to come to my home country to look after them in their old age.

I am also conscious about the expenses during my study period in Australia. Regarding the
funding during my study period, my father will sponsor me to study in Australia. I and my
family are well aware of all the expenses and tuition fees. As my father owns a business of
electronics manufacture, it has been always sufficient for my expenses in my own country
and it will also be enough for my study and living in Australia.

Thus, I believe that the enrollment at your prestigious institution will provide me with
opportunity to scale the ladder of success. Hence, I request you to consider my application
and provide me with a place of study at your esteemed university to fulfill my quest of
education and future plans.
