ACTIVITY 1

INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. 3 students per group.
2. Students backwards pass
along the line.
3. After passing it they run in
behind the student they
passed to and into the gap
Passing ‘weaving’ around.
3 man weave 4. Line progresses forward as
students run onto the ball.

Progression
 Students that can perform
a flat pass to try a spiral
pass.
 Increase distance of pass
 Speed up weave.
 Increase width of weave.
Regression
 Slow down weave, make it
½ or ¾ pace.
 Focus on just the running
rather than the passing.
LEST
L = 4 groups of 3
E = x1 touch ball/set up, x2 cones/set up
S = 2 set up 10mx15m
T = No longer than 10mins

ACTIVITY 2
INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. Students work in pairs with 1
touch rugby ball between
them.
2. 1 student stands on the base
line with the ball and the
other student stands in line
Passing with the first cone, opposite
Basic passing their partner.
3. Students must work in pairs to
pass the ball and catch it in
order to move backwards.
4. Each time the ball is caught,
the student standing in line
with the cones takes a step
backwards.
5. If the ball is dropped, the
student must take a step
forwards.

 Decrease distance of pass.

ACTIVITY 3
INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. Students work in groups of 4
with 1 ball between them.
2. Students line up along the
base line, and student A
starts with the ball.
3. Student A runs a few
metres with the ball and
Passing passes it to student B,
passing lines making sure they are
behind them.
4. Student B runs a few metres
then passes it to student C
who then passes to student
D.
5. All passes that are made
must be lateral to the
person in possession of the
ball when it is being thrown.
6. The last student with the
ball (Student D), will run
with the ball and place the
ball in the try zone.
7. Students will rotate positions
next time.
