AUTOCAD PROCEDURES

AUTOCAD Exercise No.1

Aim: To draw the given drawing as per dimensions mentioned by using


AutoCAD software.
Requirements: AutoCAD 2017(64Bit)
Drawing:

Procedure:
Step 1: launch AUTO CAD 2016
Step 2: Go to Application Menu, Then click New. Then click on start
drawing.
Step 3: A dialog box “Select Template” will be displayed.
Step 4: Select the template “acad”
Step 5: You will be redirected to the drawing screen.
Step 6: Define units by typing “UN” and pressing Enter. A dialog box called
“Drawing Units” will be displayed. Select the required units and then click
on “OK”.
Step 7: Define limits by typing “LIMITS” and pressing Enter. Set the Lower
Left Corner as (0,0). Then set Upper Right Corner required.
Step 8: Use the Zoom>All Command
Step 9: use a line command to draw a straight line of 85mm. press f8 to
enable "ortho" to get a straight line.
Step 10: select line command "L" turn of "ortho" by pressing f8.then make a
line of 45 degrees from two ends of the line .
Step 11: trim excess lines where two lines intersect (where two lines meet)
to trim lines type "tr" double enter.
Step 12: Use the “dim” command apply dimension lines as give . If the
dimension lines are too small or too big, you can adjust it accordingly by
using the command “DIMSTYLE” D(enter)
Step 13: once you are done Save the drawing “Ctrl + S”.

Step 1: launch AUTO CAD 2016
Step 2: Go to Application Menu, Then click New. Then click on start
drawing.
Step 3: A dialog box “Select Template” will be displayed.
Step 4: Select the template “acad”
Step 5: You will be redirected to the drawing screen.
Step 6: Define units by typing “UN” and pressing Enter. A dialog box called
“Drawing Units” will be displayed. Select the required units and then click
on “OK”.
Step 7: Define limits by typing “LIMITS” and pressing Enter. Set the Lower
Left Corner as (0,0). Then set Upper Right Corner required.
Step 8: Use the Zoom>All Command

Step 9: use a line command draw a line of 30(mm) use "ortho" by pressing
f8 to get a straight line .
Step 10: select a line command turn off ortho by pressing f8 from the right
end
Step 11: From the previous Line, Draw another line at an angle of 64
Degrees of any length, preferably long.
Step 12: From the left endpoint of the base line(30 Unit long). Draw a line
for any length at an angle of 79 Degrees. This line should intersect with the
previous line.
Step 13: Remove any parts of the lines after the intersection point using the
Trim command.
Step 14: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D).
Step 15: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

Step 9: Using the Line Command, draw a horizontal line of length 20 units.
Use the “Ortho” option by pressing F8 key on your keyboard. This will be
the base line.
Step 10: Select Line command. Turn off Ortho and draw a line at a 37
Degree angle to the base line from the right endpoint. The length of this line
should be 50 Units.
Step 11: From the previous Line, Draw another line at an angle of 53
Degrees of length 30 units.
Step 12: From the left endpoint of the previous line draw a line
perpendicularly downwards (Use “Ortho” Option) of length 50 Units.
Step 13: Draw a line for any length perpendicularly to the left side.
Step 14: From right end point of base line, draw a line perpendicularly
downwards for any length. This line should Intersect with the previous line.
Step 14: Remove any parts of the lines after the intersection point using the
Trim command.
Step 15: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 16: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

Step 10: Select Line command. Keep the “Ortho” option turned on for the
whole drawing. From the right endpoint of base line draw a line
perpendicularly upwards of length 5 units.
Step 11: From the previous Line, Draw another line perpendicularly to the
left of length 7.5 units.
Step 12: From the left endpoint of the previous line draw a line
perpendicularly upwards of length 5 Units.
Step 13: From the upper endpoint of the previous line draw a line
perpendicularly to the left of length 5.1 units.
Step 14: From the left endpoint of the previous line draw a line
perpendicularly downwards of length 5 Units.
Step 14: From left end point of base line, draw a line perpendicularly
upwards of length 5 units. This line should join the endpoint of the previous
line if drawn correctly
Step 15: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command (D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 16: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

Aim: To draw the given drawing as per dimensions mentioned by using

Step 6: Define units by typing “UN” and pressing Enter. A dialog box called
“Drawing Units” will be displayed. Select the required units and then
click on “OK”.
Step 7: Define limits by typing “LIMITS” and pressing Enter. Set the Lower
Left Corner as (0,0). Then set Upper Right Corner as required.
Step 8: Use the Zoom>All Command
Step 9: Using the Line Command, draw a horizontal line of length 80 units.
Use the “Ortho” option by pressing F8 key on your keyboard. This will be
the base line.
Step 10: Select Line command. Turn off Ortho and draw a line at a 58
Degree angle to the base line from the left endpoint. The length of this line
should be 42 Units.
Step 11: From the previous Line, Draw another line at an angle of 122
Degrees of length 30 units.
Step 12: From the previous Line, Draw another line that meets exactly with
the base lines right end point..
Step 13: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 14: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

the base line.
Step 10: Using Line command draw two perpendicular lines upwards, from
the endpoints of the base line. These lines should be of length 20 units. They
will be our reference for the center of the two arcs of Diameter 40 units.
Step 11: Using the circle command, select the center of circle as the endpoint
of the perpendicular line and enter radius as 20 units.
Step 12: Repeat step 11, for the other perpendicular line.
Step 12: From Midpoint of base line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 40 units. This will be our reference for the center of the arc of radius
20 units.
Step 13: Using the circle command, select the center of circle as the
endpoint of the perpendicular line and enter radius as 20 units.
Step 14: Select Line Command. Then press “Shift” and right click on your
mouse. Select Tangent from the drop down menu. Click on the perimeter of
the circle of diameter 40 and then click on the perimeter of the circle of
Radius 20. This line will be 5 Units long.
Step 15: Repeat Step 14 for the other circle of Diameter 40
Step 17: Use Trim command and remove any unnecessary arcs, lines etc.
Step 18: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 19: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

Step 10: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 1 unit.
Step 11: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the right
of length 2.5 units.
Step 12: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 1.5 units
Step 13: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the left
of length 2.5 units
Step 14: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 3 units.
Step 15: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the right
of length 3 units.
Step 16: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly downwards
of length 1 unit.
Step 17: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the right
of length 1.1 units.
Step 18: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly downwards
of length 2 units.
Step 19: Then from the previous line, (Turn off the “Ortho” option for this
step and then turn it back on again) at an angle of 49 Degrees, draw a line of
length 4.5 units.
Step 20: Then from the previous line draw a line of length 5.4 units to the
right(Turn “Ortho” option on to get a horizontal line).
Step 21: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly downwards
of length 3 units.
Step 22: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the left
of length 1 unit.
Step 23: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 2 units.
Step 24: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the left
of length 1.5 units.
Step 25: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly downwards
of length 4.5 units.
Step 26: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the left
of length 0.5 units.
Step 27: Then from the previous line, (Turn off the “Ortho” option for this
step) at an angle of 40 Degrees, draw a line of any length.
Step 28: Then from the right endpoint of base line, (Turn off the “Ortho”
option for this step) at an angle of 40 Degrees, draw a line of any length.
This line should intersect with previous line.
Step 29: Remove any parts of the lines after the intersection point using the
Trim command.
Step 30: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 31: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

of length 1/2 units
Step 13: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the right
of length 1 1/4 units
Step 14: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 1/2 units.
Step 15: From the midpoint of the line drawn in Step 11, at a distance 4 ½
units perpendicularly downwards draw a line of 0.5 units to the left and the
right.
Step 16: Then from the previous line draw two line perpendicularly upwards
of length 1/2 units, from either side.
Step 17: Then from the previous lines draw a line perpendicularly to the
right and left of length 1 1/4 units respectively.
Step 18: Then from the previous lines draw a line perpendicularly
downwards of length 1/2 units on both sides.
Step 19: Then from the 1 ¼ lines draw a lines of length 2 units on both sides.
Step 20: Then from the previous lines of length 2 units, (Turn off the
“Ortho” option for this step) at an angle of 60 Degrees, draw a line of any
length. Repeat this for the remaining three lines of length 2 units. 2 lines
should intersect on either side.
Step 21: Then from the lines length 1 unit, from both sides, draw reference
lines of length 1 ½ perpendicularly downwards.
Step 22: Then from the endpoints of the previous lines draw two rectangles
using the “RECTANGLE” command with length as 2 1/8 units and breadth
as 1 ½ units.
Step 23: Remove any unnecessary parts of the lines using the Trim
command. Also erase all Refernce lines using the “ERASE” command
Step 24: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 25: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

draw a line of length 40 units to either side.
Step 22: Then from the previous lines draw a line perpendicularly upwards
of length 50 units from both endpoints.
Step 23: Then from either one of the previous lines draw a line
perpendicularly towards the endpoint of the other line of length 80 units.
Step 24: Then from the midpoint of the previous line draw a line
perpendicularly upwards of length 25 units. This is a reference line. Then
draw a line of length 40 units to either side.
Step 25: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of
length 25 units from both endpoints.
Step 26: Then from either one of the previous lines draw a line
perpendicularly towards the endpoint of the other line of length 80 units.
Step 27: Then from the lines length 1 unit, from both sides, draw reference
lines of length 1 ½ perpendicularly downwards.
Step 28: Then from the midpoint of the line of length 100 units on the right
side, draw a reference line for the middle circle, perpendicularly to the left of
length 10 units.
Step 29: Then from the endpoint of the previous line, using the Circle
command, draw a circle of radius 10 units.
Step 30: Then from the center of the middle circle draw a reference line of
length 30 units downwards.
Step 31: Then from the endpoint of the previous line, using the Circle
command, draw a circle of radius 10 units.
Step 32: Then from the center of the middle circle draw a reference line of
length 30 units upwards.
Step 33: Then from the endpoint of the previous line, using the Circle
command, draw a circle of radius 10 units.
Step 34: Then from the midpoint of the line of length 100 units on the left
side draw a reference line perpendicularly to the right of length 10 units.
Step 35: Then from the previous lines draw a reference line perpendicularly
downwards of length 10 units.
Step 36: Then from the endpoint of the previous line draw a rectangle using
the “RECTANGLE” command with length as 40 units and breadth as 20
units.
Step 37: Then from the bottom left and top left corners of the rectangle draw
two reference lines perpendicularly upwards and downwards of length 10
units.
Step 38: From both reference lines draw a rectangle using the
“RECTANGLE” command with length as 40 units and breadth as 20 units.
Step 39: Then Select the Fillet command. Select the radius option. Set
Radius as 10 units and use wherever necessary to achieve the required
rounded edges.
Step 40: Remove any unnecessary parts of the lines using the Trim
command. Also erase all Reference lines using the “ERASE” command
Step 41: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 42: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

Step 6: Define units by typing “UN” and pressing Enter. A dialog box called
“Drawing Units” will be displayed. Select the required units and then
click on “OK”.
Step 7: Define limits by typing “LIMITS” and pressing Enter. Set the Lower
Left Corner as (0,0). Then set Upper Right Corner as required.
Step 8: Use the Zoom>All Command
Step 9: Using the Line Command, draw a horizontal line of length 90 units.
Use the “Ortho” option by pressing F8 key on your keyboard. This will be
the reference lines. Keep “Ortho” option turned on unless specified
otherwise.
Step 10: From the endpoint on the left side of the reference line using the
Circle command draw a circle of radius 20 units and from the same center
another circle of radius 30 units.
Step 11: From the endpoint on the right side of the reference line using the
Circle command draw a circle of radius 20 units and from the same center
another circle of radius 10 units.
Step 12: Select Line Command. Then press “Shift” and right click on your
mouse. Select Tangent from the drop down menu. Click on the perimeter of
the circle of radius 30 and then again press “Shift” and right click. Select
tangent from the drop down menu and click on the perimeter of the circle of
Radius 20.
Step 13: Repeat Step 12, except click on the lower part of the perimeter of
both circles.
Step 14: Remove any unnecessary parts of the lines using the Trim
command. Also erase all Reference lines using the “ERASE” command
Step 15: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.
Step 16: Save the drawing by pressing “Ctrl + S”.

line of length 15 units perpendicularly upwards.
Step 11: Then from the previous line draw a refernce line perpendicularly to
the left of length 25 units.
Step 12: Then from the endpoint of the previous line using “RECTANGLE”
command, draw a rectangle of length 50 units and breadth 15 units.
Step 13: Then from the midpoint of the upper length of the rectangle using
the Circle command draw a circle of radius 20 units and from the same
center another circle of radius 35 units.
Step 14: Remove any unnecessary parts of the lines using the Trim
command. Also erase all Reference lines using the “ERASE” command
Step 15: Using the “DIM” command, Apply dimension lines as required. If
the dimension lines are too small or too big, adjust accordingly by using the
“DIMSTYLE” command(D). Find the missing dimensions.

Ortho option. Keep Ortho option on unless specified otherwise.
Step 10: Turn off Ortho option. Then from the right endpoint of the previous
line draw a line at an angle of 45 degrees and of long length.
Step 11: Then from the left endpoint of reference line draw a line at an angle
of 45 degrees and of long length.
Step 12:Turn on Ortho option. From the midpoint of the reference line draw
a line perpendicularly upwards of length 1.5 units
Step 13: From the previous line, draw a line perpendicularly to both sides of
length 3.25 units each.
Step 14: The previous line should now intersect with the lines drawn in
Steps 10 & 11.
Step 15: From the left endpoint of reference line draw a line horizontally of
length 2.5 units.
Step 16: From previous line draw a line perpendicularly upwards of length
2.5 units.
Step 17: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the right
of length 10 units.
Step 18: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly downwards
of length 2.5 units.
Step 19: Then from the previous line draw a line perpendicularly to the left
