What are three things you learned today about Inclusion?
1.Took a conscious effort to think about for someone with privilege

2. Should not be an optional thing, should not be considered an act of kindness, but a necessity

3. Many forms of inclusion, adaptations and tweaks must be created for every specific individual even if they share
a similar disability

How does people-first language make a difference?


-Makes people feel a sense of belonging
-Puts the person before their “disability”
-Prevents something from defining a person & their identity
-Presents mindfulness

How is being inclusive important to the profession of recreation & leisure?


-As TR practitioners, it is important to understand that a disability does not define a person
-Allows clients to cope, learn & grow as a person
-Supports well-being & happiness, acceptance
-Allows the clients to know that they are not being judged for their problems
