This is the commercial that I used for the project. I reference it two times: once when I

show it in its entirety, and once more when I talk about the counter argument.

This source gave me information on how the color red is deemed as dominant as

opposed to other colors such as blue and green. It gave the example of how boxing officials,

when the match was close, would most often give the match to the fighter in red because

psychologically they see red as the winner. This allowed me to connect how and why the

company uses the color red.

Int. J. Adv. Res. Sci. Technol. Volume 2, Issue2, 2013, pp 106-109.

This source provided the information on how the color red is associated with the

physiological response of increasing a person’s heart rate. I was then able to connect this to
how an increase heart rate in turn increases appetite and desire, which is how the Coca-Cola

company is able to sway its audience into wanting a coke to quench its thirst. It also gave

me the information on how color is connected to psychology, which then allowed me to

explain how the commercial uses it through the use of red.

This source gave me the information needed in order to explain what ethos is. By

explaining what ethos is, I was then able to tie it back into how the commercial uses it to

sell its product.

This source gave me information on both pathos and logos, and explained it in simple terms.

This allowed me to easily connect it to the commercial and how the message of unity appeals to

pathos, and how there’s very little logos in the commercial.
