Step 1 Professional Growth Goal: To improve my teaching effectiveness in the School’s Greatest Area of
Need Subject and Indicators. The subject is Reading and the Indicators are Letter/ Sound
Identification, Phoneme Segmentation, and Nonsense Words.

Standard 3: MANAGEMENT- A teacher will organize learning environments and maintain


appropriate student behavior.

Step 2 Your rationale for choosing this goal. If I improve my effectiveness in teaching Reading and
Indicators for Letter/Sound Identification, Phoneme Segmentation and Nonsense Words, my student
outcomes improve.

KINDERGARTEN ELA SMART GOAL:


By the end of SY 2018-2019, 100% of my kindergarten students will show 50% growth from their
baseline data towards the 35th national percentile as measured by the students Rate of Improvement
(ROI) in AIMS Web Early Literacy Test (Letter Naming, Letter Sounds, Phoneme Segmentation, Non-
Sense Words) by the Spring benchmark.

 Lesson plans and activities during ELA and ELA Intervention block focused on Letter/Sound
identification, phenome segmentation and non-sense words that are aligned with the district’s
adopted curriculum recognizing the needs, learning styles, and performance of diverse learners.
Lesson plans and/or intervention activities for each of the Greatest Areas of Need in
kindergarten ELA.

 Evidence of student participation through pictures and video to demonstrate a positive learning
environment that supports and encourages active participation, collaboration and interaction.
