The area of contact of sliding block is given by equation 3, thrust due to water present in
discontinuity plane (V) is given by equation 4, thrust because of water on the tension crack (U)
is given by equation 5, weight of sliding block is given by the equation 6, and the factor of
safety can be calculated using the equation 8.

Circular Failure

Formula

The equations 1, 2 is used to calculate FOS for the plane failure drained condition. The
equations 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 are used to calculate FOS for the plane failure undrained where tensile
crack is face. The equations 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 are used to calculate FOS for the plane failure
undrained where tensile crack is present in upper slope face. The equations 15, 16, 17, 18, 19
are used to calculate FOS for wedge failure. The equation 20 is used to calculate the FOS for
circular failure. The comparison takes place between all the obtained FOS and the output is
given as least FOS obtained from all the conditions.

Summary

The Android application and the software has been developed based on the modules. All the
formulas have been incorporating in both the application and software. It is proceeded next to
validation part.
