CFD Simulation of multipurpose hall at Al Sadd sports complex , Doha - Qatar flowpak
A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is used to evaluate the
thermal comfort conditions in the indoor hall, which would host handball
during the world cup “Doha 2015”. The CFD code is applied to calculate
the 3-D airflow and temperature fields in the arena for the initial HVAC
design delivered by James Cubitt & Partners. Calculated mean velocities
and temperatures were used to determine the thermal comfort indices in
the various regions of the stadium.

The study is conducted for extreme conditions (summer

season, stadium considered full). To simulate the flow
correctly and thus to be able to estimate the evolution of the
air flow, it is essential to model the exact geometry of the
stadium as well as all of the infrastructure and obstacles
composing the work (stairwells, system of HVAC, ceiling,
walls.

CFD Simulation of wellness center of Anantara Resort hotel, Qatar flowpak
The Banana Island wellness centre project is a first of a kind resort in
Qatar to let its guests experience thermal comfort for a semi outdoor
environment. Designing a HVAC system to meet the demands of architect
for creating and maintaining a ‘microclimate thermal comfort’ is a
challenge at many fronts. Human thermal comfort is the ultimate goal of
the system. Furthermore, condensation, humidity level and air velocity
have to be controlled in order to provide for a one-of-kind outdoor
experience.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations are

performed on the submitted HVAC design to investigate
thermal comfort within the indoor environment of the
wellness centre at Banana Island project in Qatar.

full-scale geometry was prepared taking into account all the
features in the construction which will directly contribute to
the cooling design.

CFD analysis of smoke management system for Carrefour Supermarket, Qatar flowpak
Carrefour market at City Centre, Doha is a retail shopping outlet providing
consumer supplies (electronics, goods and utilities), groceries and fresh produce.
The building covers an area of 15,692 m2.
The CFD study describes a smoke management system using conventional duct
system to extract smoke generated in case of fire. Both market zones (zone 1
and zone 2) are simulated for 5MW fire. Warehouse (zone 3) is simulated for 5.5
MW fire.
The smoke exhaust system is divided on three zones. Two zones at the market
mall separated by smoke curtains, each zone contains conventional duct exhaust
and mechanical supply air as described below. The third zone is the storage
apace separated from the market area by two shutter doors.

CFD analysis of Car Park Ventilation System for Gulf MALL, Doha - Qatar flowpak
The car park consists one basement; the basement level is investigated by
means of CFD simulations. This basement is connected to the ground level by
ramps. Ventilation is provided by 220 axial jet fans and 26 extract fans the fresh
air is provided through 10 openings on roof and 7 ramps. The CFD model
accounts for columns, beams, internal walls and other construction elements
which can form an obstruction to the air flow.

In accordance with the requirements of NFPA 101, tenable conditions must be
maintained along the escape routes for not less than the greater of either 20 minutes,

CFD analysis of smoke control system for IKEA- Qatar flowpak
At the request of AL FUTTAIM ENGINEERING, flowpak prepared a CFD
analysis review for the smoke exhaust system proposed for the Warehouse,
The Market Mall and The Show Room of the IKEA Building .
The system is designed to meet the following Qatar Civil Defence minimum
acceptance requirements at 1.8m height above floor level, within 10m radius
of design fires after 20 minutes and providing 10 m of visibility and maximum
smoke layer temperature of 60 °C

Objectives of smoke control in commercial

Building : To enable fire-fighting crew to better see the
fire and therefore to extinguish it more speedily
In single storey storage and industrial buildings, and effectively.
there are various uses to which smoke control
systems can be put in the case of a fire: To permit greater travel distances to exits to

CFD analysis of atrium smoke management for Abu Hamour Mall, Doha - Qatar flowpak
Abu Hamour mall is a building of 2B+G+2, the mall consists of retail
stores, restaurants, cinema hall among other amenities. The building is
located at Abu Hamour.
The aims of the CFD simulation was to study the smoke management
system at the main dome.

The CFD study shows clearly that the proposed smoke

management system permits :
•To facilitate escape by providing smoke-free escape routes.
•To enable fire-fighting crew to better see the fire and therefore
to extinguish it more speedily and effectively.
•To have a visibility at of > 10 m at 1.8 height above each floor.
•To have a Temperature < 60 °C at 1.8 height above each floor.

CFD analysis of Tunnel Ventilation Systems - NDIA CP 99 PASSENGER TERMINAL TUNNEL flowpak
The main objective of the study is to determine the position of jet fans
to be installed in the NDIA CP 99 PASSENGER TERMINAL TUNNEL that
will ensure an air velocity that meets international standards for vehicle
occupants.
The high thrust of jet fans may cause a height turbulence and velocity.
As per NFPA 502 in case of fire in the tunnel Personnel should not be
required to walk into an airstream exceeding 11 m/s during an
emergency.

Owing to building confinement, tunnel fires are becoming as

the most fatal factors responsible for large number of
causalities and economic damages. The aspect of fire safety
has to be considered during the design phase of a tunnel as
well as its ventilation systems.
In this context the fundamental laws that govern the fire
phenomena, namely the buoyancy and the advection have
to be faithfully described while accounting for strong energy
transfer within the flow.
