Paombong is a municipality adjacent to the capital city, Malolos. One of the

problems of the Paombong Poblacion are its narrow roads. Next is the lack of

commercial establishments like restaurants and shopping malls. The main reason

for this is the lack of comprehensive planning in the area. The residential areas has

no setback that’s why there are no space for the Pedestrians.

The Institutional Buildings present in Poblacion Paombong are the Municipal Hall,

Church, Gymnasium, Elementary School, High School, Police Station and Fire

Station. These are the Buildings that can be seen around a plaza during the Spanish

period. The Philippines adapted the concept of making a plaza where the public

buildings are around the plaza.

The first Church was built by the Augustinian on 1578 as bamboo and thatch roof

being the materials. It was renovated on 1639 through the years and served for

many years until 1964. It was renovated again to become wider and cater the

growing number of Catholic population. On 1969 the new church was built and still

standing strong until the present day. Its style was a combination of different

architectural approach. Next is the Municipal Hall, It is located behind the covered

court of the Municipality which is along the Poblacion road. The front of the covered

court was made out of blue metal cladding and tinted glass and was built

approximately 10 years ago. But an early sign of deterioration is evident on the

façade. Paombong Police Station was constructed on March 2003, under the

leadership of the late Mayor Dominador Gonzales and retired PSupt. Osmar Israel.
With a total land area of 420 sq. meters it lies beside the Municipal Hall of

Paombong, Barangay Poblacion, Paombong, Bulacan. All of the stated buildings

including the schools have no record of who is the architect is in charge

After reviewing the data collected we came to a solution to cluster the public

buildings in one area with common space which is known as the plaza. We arranged

the buildings where the public buildings are facing each other and we provided an

open space in the center. The purpose of a plaza complex is to promote

centralization and accessibility. We applied some rerouting to effectively improve

the circulation in the community. Road were widened, and shaded sidewalks & bike

lanes were added for the safety of the pedestrians. The creation of a plaza complex

can also help to reduce the traffic congestion in the area. Because instead of

walking on the side of the road, the plaza became a large walking area to go to the

public buildings in the municipality.
