Chloe Cafferty and Victoria Shubelyak Outline:

Chloe/introduction: In this addition of this podcast, we will be discussing females in male


dominated sports and everything that comes with it. These stories include personal
experiences that females have faced when playing a male dominated sport and
interviews with coaches and teacher that have coached females.

Chloe/Intro to 1st story: Jessica Green is a sophomore at Troy high and plays jv boys
football. It’s been 67 years since a girl has played on the boys football team. In addition
to playing football she also plays soccer. Jessica has broken the stereotype and proven
that girls can play sports that are masculine.

Victoria/intro to 2nd story: Mr. Frazier is all-American athlete that attended Troy high. He
coaches varsity football, varsity softball and jv girls basketball. He also is a history
teacher at Troy High as well as running peer mediation.

Victoria/intro to 3rd story: Ms. Danhoff is a PE and health teacher at Troy high school.
She coaches jv girls golf and runs the ski club. She played softball in college for Albion
college.

Chloe/ intro to 4th story: Mrs. Noble is a health teacher and has taught PE at Troy high.
She played basketball in college for Central Michigan University.

Victoria/ intro to 5th story: Ms. Ciolek is a English and history teacher at Troy high. She
coaches jv softball. She is the sophomore class advisor for student government. She is
also the advisor for model un.

Chloe/intro to 6th story: Anna Fairman is a senior at Troy high. She plays hockey for a
travel team. She is committed to play next year for Robert Morris University.

Victoria/ intro to 7th story: Kendal Zeiter is a freshman at Troy high like Jessica she
plays on the jv boys football team. She also plays girls basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Victoria and Chloe/intro to 8th story: in February 2019, Nike came out with a commercial
that showed female in sports and all the criticism that’s comes with it.

Chloe/statistics: The article Gender Inequality in Sports states, “The US Women’s


Sports Foundation reports that male athletes are receiving some $180 million more
annually in athletic scholarship grants than female athletes do”. I think this is very unfair.
Women do the same exact thing as men yet they are considered equals.

Víctoria/conclusion: The big question we have is that do sport stereotypes affect


women? This is an often a yes and no question. Yes, Females are just as capable at
playing at same potential as a male but, we often don’t receive the same crowd and
environment for our games and events. We are separate but equal.
