III. PROCEDURE

A. Motivation (Review)
 Instruct learners to form groups of five members each.
 Assign a number, from 1 to 5, to each member of the group.
 For each group, list the weight of the members on a sheet of paper.
 Compute for the mean weight of the group, , and the standard deviation of the weights.
 Tell them to list all the possible samples with two members with replacement.

Ask them how many of the sample means are equal to the mean weight of the group.
Answer: They might notice that most, if not all, of the sample means are not equal to the
true mean weight.
