1. Use and purpose of XENTRY PDF Printer
XENTRY PDF Printer replaces the previous XENTRY Printer Bridge.
XENTRY PDF Printer allows the following:
 Saving PDF documents in predefined storage locations

 Forwarding documents to a particular printer
 Merging documents into one PDF file

2. How do I merge several documents in one document?
Proceed as follows to create the document:
Step 1: Print document with the "XENTRY PDF Printer"
Open the XENTRY PDF Printer if the screen does not open automatically:

Step 2: Select the documents you would like to merge or create a new collection of
documents (1)
Step 3: Click the "Add to collection" button (2)
 Repeat steps 1 to 3 for each document you would like to add to the collection.

Step 4: Click the "Edit/complete collection…" button (3) to complete
Step 5: If applicable, change the sequence of documents and content within the collection
Step 6: Save the collection as a PDF document in the specified storage location or forward
it to a printer (also saves the document as a PDF file)
The collection is no longer on the selection list following completion.

3. How can I amend a completed collection?
Proceed as follows to amend a completed collection:
Step 1: Start the XENTRY Explorer
Step 2: Navigate to the completed collection and click the "Open" button
Step 3: Print the collection using XENTRY PDF Printer
Step 4: Create a new collection once the XENTRY PDF Printer user interface appears
Step 5: Add the recently printed collection (should be selected in the "Current documents"
list) to the new collection
Step 6: Now add additional documents and complete the new collection

4. Description of the user interface
This user interface appears if you print a document using XENTRY PDF Printer or if you click
the "XENTRY PDF Printer" desktop shortcut.

XENTRY PDF Printer
The XENTRY PDF Printer consists of three areas:
Area 1 – Current document
This area shows printed documents. The document you printed last is listed at the top.
Click the triangle icon () to open the document list.
Now there are different functions available for the selected document:
- Change name:
Click the "Change name" button to adapt the name of the document.
An input field appears where you can enter the new name.
- Remove FIN:
The FIN from XENTRY Diagnostics is assigned to the document. You can delete this
assignment. The FIN is used upon saving the document in certain storage structures
(see Settings – Storage structure).
The icon indicates if a document has not been included in a collection. In any other case
the following icon is shown:
Area 2 - Individual document
Provides standard functions for the currently selected document, namely:
- Save: Saves the document in PDF format in the storage location
- Print document: Sends the document to the specified printer

Area 3 - Collections
Provides functions to create document collections. A collection is a PDF file consisting of several
documents (several files are merged in one file). As a result, it is possible to create files featuring
documents from different diagnostic steps.
Several collections may be open simultaneously. A collection may remain open for an unrestricted
period of time. It is only deleted from the list of collections once it has been completed.
The following functions are available for collections:
- Selecting collections:
Specify the desired collection using a selection list
- "Create new collection":

Adds a new collection to the selection list
- "Add to collection"
The current document is added to the selected collection
- "Edit/complete collection...":
Allows you to change the name and content of the collection. You can print completed
collections or save them as PDF documents.

5. XENTRY PDF Printer settings
The settings allow you to define where and how PDF documents and collections are saved
and to which printers they are sent.

Default storage path
Specify the location where you would like to save PDF files. This may be on a local drive or a
network drive. We recommend that you only save files on a USB drive if the drive letter is always
identical.

The following entries are initially available for selection:
- Configured network drives from SDexplorer or XENTRY Explorer

- All connected USB drives (does not apply to XENTRY Connect)
- All available network drives
You can amend the selection by selecting a new storage path with the "Browse..." button.
Configure additional network drives via SDexplorer or XENTRY Explorer.

Under the storage path, you can create additional levels using the data which is additionally
available for the document.
The following levels are available:
1.) Current date and FIN (default setting)

2.) FIN and the current date
3.) FIN

Select XENTRY PDF Printer as default printer
If you would always like to process your documents using the XENTRY PDF Printer, you can set it
as the standard printer. This setting applies to XENTRY Connect only and does not affect paper-
based printers to which you can send documents.
This setting is recommended since XENTRY DAS does not offer a printer selection option,
therefore making this the only way to use the XENTRY PDF Printer in XENTRY DAS.
Print received documents directly (without displaying XENTRY PDF Printer)
Use this setting to define whether the XENTRY PDF Printer should automatically transfer the
documents it receives to the defined paper printer. The XENTRY PDF Printer screen remains in the
background and does not interrupt your work.

You can use this setting to select whether the XENTRY PDF Printer automatically stores received
documents in the defined directory and folder structure. The XENTRY PDF Printer screen remains
in the background and does not interrupt your work.
Reducing the document view
You can reduce the "Current document" selection list. Alternatively, it displays all documents from
the last 100 days.
Documents older than this are regularly deleted to save hard drive space.

Please specify an installed paper-based printer to forward the received documents to.

6. Remedial actions
Refer to the following table containing various remedial actions if you encounter error messages or issues.

Please make sure the printer is in operation.
Reconnect the XENTRY Tab/standard PC and XENTRY Connect. In

isolated cases, not all printers are transferred to the XENTRY Connect.
The printer does not print To transfer a document to the printer, it is stored on the XENTRY
the document. Tab/standard PC and printed.
In most cases, the problem is due to an inactive printer.
Check the following settings:
 Is the printer you would like to use available under "Start" ->
"Devices and Printers"?
o Is it displayed as an inactive device (grayed out)?
The document is in the print queue and will be printed as

soon as the printer is connected and active.
o Is a copy of the printer available and activated? (Copies

are created when the USB printer is removed and then
reconnected.)
Make sure that you have defined the active printer in the
XENTRY PDF Printer.
 Is the printer you would like to use unavailable in the overview of

"Devices and Printers"?
Connect the printer, carry out the installation and establish a

new connection to your XENTRY Connect.
Make sure that the printer in the "Devices and Printers" overview

is shown as active. (Print a test page as needed.)

Check whether your preferred printer is set up in XENTRY PDF
Printer.
In any case, you always have this option:

Open the desired file with a PDF program of your choice and use its print
function.
Recommended:
Use a USB hub to increase the number of USB connections on your
XENTRY Tab or standard PC.

Unable to start
the print program Please check whether the pdfprint.exe file exists in [Programs or
Programs (x86)]\Mercedes-Benz\ XentryPdfPrinter\veryPDF]. If this is
not the case, please reinstall the XENTRY Control software.
veryPDF -5000: Please reinstall the XENTRY Control software.
