Dear Fourth Grade Families,

As an end of the year activity we are planning on

hiking with the children to Sterling Pond. It is a ​wonderful
place to visit for those of you that have not been there!
On average, it is about a one hour hike to the pond. It
would be great to have parents join us if you are able.
Weather permitting, we will go on Thursday, ​June 13​th​.
If the weather is poor or questionable, we will go on
Friday, the 14th. We will board the buses at 8:20 and
return in time for dismissal.

Children should wear hiking boots, or at least sturdy walking shoes that have good tread.
They should also have sunscreen/bug spray ​put on before leaving home.​ A sweatshirt/wind jacket
is also recommended, as it could be cool at the top of Sterling Mountain.

Children will need a​ bag lunch​ with ​no glass bottles​. Backpacks are recommended to carry
all of their possessions. Please refrain from bringing coolers as they are heavy and difficult to hike
with. Extra water bottles are also a good idea. If your child needs a bag lunch, please check below.

If the weather is uncertain, we will send out a group email (or call those without email) before
7:30 when a final decision will be made. More specific information about the trails and transportation
will be coming soon. Thank you!
