To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing this letter to enthusiastically recommend Ryan Johnson. I have had the distinct pleasure of
knowing him as a marketing student and DECA member for the past four years. In this short time I have
seen incredible growth and a potential that is truly special.

As a student in class, Ryan is one of the first students to raise his hand, participate in group activities and
discussion, turn in excellent work, and show outstanding effort each and every day. Teachers are
constantly on the lookout for a student who shines and is really excited about the material being taught in
class, and Ryan fits the bill. In marketing class, Ryan has proven his skill in working both independently
and as a member of a team. As he is extremely intrinsically motivated it doesn’t seem to matter what type
of situation he finds himself in—he always finds a way to exceed expectations. Over the course of the
past few years his classmates have come to respect his talents and look to him as a leader in class. His
full participation and excellent timely work makes this recognition well-earned.

As a three-year member of DECA, Ryan has had the opportunity to involve himself in vocational, social,
civic and leadership opportunities through events and competitions. In terms of DECA’s competitive side,
Ryan has used his combination of academic and people skills to achieve success in multiple events
where he had to take a marketing cluster test as well as complete role-play scenario with a business
leader in his chosen field. In terms of DECA’s leadership opportunities, Ryan has applied himself as a
chapter officer for two years, this year he’s serving as our School Store Manager for a retail business with
gross sales over $30,000. He has also served as our VP of Marketing to create branded messages about
our chapter to the school and community as a sophomore. In his role as a chapter officer he has
completed announcements, social media updates, and created promotional signs for all of our events.

As a marketing teacher, my efforts are focused on preparing students for future careers in marketing,
management and entrepreneurship. He is never afraid of a challenge and seeks opportunities with a
vigor and confidence far beyond his years. Earning a 4.3 GPA is just one example of all of his hard work
in the classroom. Demonstrating well rounded skills, Ryan has served as a freshman mentor, student
council member, National Honor Society officer, and in a variety of other competitions from math to
economics. In addition, he is also volunteers his time in our community events like the Dream Team and
Safety Town programs.

Considering all of his talents, it would be an easy decision to choose Ryan. However, all of his gifts aside,
Ryan would be an outstanding candidate on the strength of his character alone. He is a kind person and a
joy to be around. He works hard, is appreciative of his opportunities and proud of his success. In short, he
is an outstanding young man with a limitless future. I will be very sad to see Ryan leave Badger High
School but I am excited to see all he will achieve. There is no doubt in my mind that he will make an
immediate contribution to any school lucky to have him.

Please consider Ryan to have my highest recommendation. If you have any further questions about his
qualifications, please contact me at Badger High School at (262) 348-2000 extension 2696, or by email at
