Challenges in Healthcare

Healthcare is always evolving; whether it be technology, programs, patients,

medications, or institutions. Although there is good that comes with healthcare, there are also
challenges that come along with the process. Healthcare is always at an increase in cost,
changes in services and care and medical technology.
Healthcare cost have continued to increase “... the United States will grow an average
annual rate of 5.8% from 2015 or 1.3% points higher than expected annual increase in the
GDP”(Teel,2018) and this is becoming a problem for those who do not have healthcare. There
are some citizens trying to obtain some form of insurance, yet it is a difficult process to obtain
when you the patient have select plans to choose from that restricts your provider and the
services provided.
There are regulatory challenges that need to be controlled so that certain situation do
not present in the future. Not only should healthcare managers but providers must be kept up to
date and to understand how to handle situations. “Regulatory services drive up the cost of
providing services and care” if healthcare leaders continue to inform themselves and control
different programs can present a better healthcare platform to increase business. Regulating
certain challenges also can go hand in hand with training each department with the correct
training program to better entail what needs to be addressed through importance. With the
control of programs and information being studied, this will increase better patient care and
delivery of services.
Technology has been increased in hospitals to increase easier and faster access.
“Today’s health organizations are facing physician shortages and need low cost alternatives to
office visits” (Teel, 2018). Creating telemedicine is an easier way for both providers and patients
to communicate to create easier access for the delivery of care. There can also be a challenge
within telemedicine due to the access to technology and the knowledge of how to use it.
Although companies are creating a simple and easy access way for us patients, there are other
people who do not use technology to access certain documents or appointments. Inputting
these new programs and machines in hospitals is a great idea, yet there will always be a
downfall for whatever product it may be.
