Corbin See
Corbin Francis See died May
29, 2019 at FMDH Hospital.
Corbin was born to Missouri
Benjamin and Emma (Gaetzke)
See on July 8, 1925 in Hinsdale,
Montana. He attended school in
Hinsdale and went into the Navy in 1943, serving in the
South Pacific until his discharge in 1946.
Corbin married Alice Joyce Nelson October 14, 1951
and they had seven sons. Corbin farmed and ranched in
the Hinsdale area and also owned and operated a motel.
In 2004 Corbin retired and resided in Glasgow since.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; six sons; fourteen
grandchildren; and 24 great – grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion
Romain; infant son, Tony Dean; and two grandchildren.

17 of the 85 teams were out of Glasgow, Fort Peck,
Nashua and Saco. With the exception of the 1st & 2nd
place teams mentioned on the front page, the only other
anglers with local ties to crack the top ten was BJ Kemp
and former Glasgow resident Trent Young, now of
Columbia Falls, with 42.36 pounds for 10th place.
Brian Olson of Nashua teamed up with Dan Majeske
for 11th on 41.72 pounds (they were in 5th place on
Saturday with 26.5 pounds). Glasgow anglers Matt Poole
and Ricci Olson were right on their heels in 12th with
41.06 pounds (in 4th place Saturday with 29.10 pounds).
And now for the sad story: Jason Eggebrecht of
Fort Peck and his Billings partner, Drew Alper, had an
awesome 40.12 pounds for an eight pound lead heading
into Sunday but would get a big fat ZERO and drop to
13th place. Just five pounds and they would have been in
5th. Youch!
In a “zero to hero” story, also cracking the top 20
were Talyor Mindt, Glasgow, and Sean Williams, Havre,
who goose-egged on Saturday but found the ’eyes on
Sunday to reel in 31.04 pounds, fourth largest weight of
the tournament and a 17th place finish.
14 teams didn’t card a walleye and there were a total
of 59 zeros in the combined two days.
Next up on the Fort Peck Circuit is the 32nd Annual
Montana Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament July 11,
12 & 13, which had a full 200 team roster in less than
a week after entries were being accepted. There are
currently 42 teams on the alternate list.

Free event invites public to learn
about and monitor chimney swifts

Come join us for “A Swift Night” – chimney swifts,
that is – on Thursday, June 6 at the FWP Region 6
headquarters in Glasgow.
During this event, hosted by Montana Fish,
Wildlife and Parks and Montana Audubon, participants
will learn about chimney swifts and how they can help
to monitor local populations.
Chimney swifts are fascinating birds that can
be found in your backyard or, more accurately, a
nearby chimney! However, little is known about their
distribution in the state. We are looking for eager
volunteers that want to learn about chimney swifts and
help locate them.
There will be a presentation from 7:30-8:15 p.m.
or so in the Quonset meeting room at the R6 FWP
headquarters building, followed by an evening challenge
to locate and identify local swifts by sight and sound.
The event will be led by Amy Seaman of Montana
Audubon and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region
6 biologist Heather Harris.

to buy an electronic timing system used at meets;

place directional signs to the Smith Bike Park just off
Highway 2 East in Glasgow;
• $11,307 to Glasgow Reds Baseball to replace the breaker
boxes on the lights in Legion Field.
The impact of each grant is unique and frequently,
benefits move far beyond the group presenting the
application, Leader emphasized. For example, requests
from the two high schools provide uses for the communities
at large. The improved sound system in Opheim will be
used for community-wide events such as performances,
graduation, and the Veterans’ Day program. Also at the
Opheim School, the fitness training room is open to all
community members who request access and receive safety
training. The GHS Cross Country team plans to rent the
timing system, with an operator, to other race events held in
the area. This will amount to a substantial savings for local
event sponsors, whose costs to rent similar systems are as
high as $2,000.
With a 501 (c) (3) tax status VCCF, is a non-profit
organization and awards grants to organizations of the
same tax status, along with educational institutions and
government entities. Applications for annual grant awards are
due in March. Information on VCCF grants and scholarships
is available on its website, www.valleycountycf.net.
