Reduce Staggering Complexity—NetBackup 7.7 reduces complexity through comprehensive integration, converged
platform, and elastic automation.
1. New comprehensive integration are available for for VMware 6, Microsoft Hyper-V, NetApp, Microsoft SQL
Server, and Amazon Web Services. NetBackup 7.7 also expands support for cloud storage providers.
2. The recent release of the NetBackup 5330 Integrated Appliance, NetBackup offers an entire family of scalable
infrastructure upon which to build a converged solution. The usual steps of design, integration, and test are
eliminated, while updates occur in unison. The converged solution is simpler, more scalable, and easier to
maintain.
3. Elastic automation comes as NetBackup 7.7 extends Intelligent Policies to include Microsoft Hyper-V and SQL
Server workloads, allowing new systems and instances to be automatically discovered and protected, and
increasing the ease and simplicity of managing these environments.

Outpace the Relentless Growth—NetBackup 7.7 has proven to be one of the most scalable solutions for protecting the
enterprise. Data growth (25-75% per year) compounded by virtual machines growth (20% per year) risks outrunning the
data protection capabilities of the enterprise.
1. Faster cloud backups. With more enterprises looking to lower costs by exploiting cloud storage, NetBackup 7.7
introduces a newly-designed cloud connector integrated with AWS S3 (object) storage. This new connector has
been optimized for performance, significantly improving backup times targeting S3-compatible cloud storage.
2. Additional cloud providers supports cloud gateways from NetApp and Amazon that use a tiered storage approach
to replicate backup data to cloud storage.

Transform to Agile Business Enabler—NetBackup 7.7 enables businesses through NetBackup Self-Service IT and
business users, as well as Veritas Information Map.
1. Self service for IT. NetBackup 7.7 introduces some new ways for other IT users and teams to take control over
their backups and restores. For VM admins, console plug-ins for Hyper-V System Center Virtual Machine
Manager (SCVMM) and vSphere web client allow them to view backup status and submit backup and restore
requests without having to pick up the phone or wait in line at the help desk.
2. Self service for business users. NetBackup Self Service, previously called Biomni Front Office for NetBackup,
presents business users or service provider clients with an intuitive console where they can perform a variety of
backup and restore tasks. NetBackup 7.7 adds a number of usability enhancements, including a variety of
dashboards to help users easily monitor heath and operational status.
3. Information awareness. NetBackup 7.7 integrates with the Veritas Information Map, giving IT a high level view of
all information within the organization, how much there is, where it’s located, and other attributes associated with
that data, allowing IT to make better decisions and respond more quickly to business needs.  
4. Enhanced Security and Auditing features now include a FIPS-certified cryptographic module.
