CHECKLIST ROOF ACCESS
DID YOU CHECK THE LAST INSPECTION DATE
OF YOUR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT?
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requires a regular
inspection (usually once per year). The maintenance history
must be recorded. Be sure to check the inspection dates in
advance!
PERFORM A PRE-USE CHECK ON ALL FALL
PROTECTION EQUIPMENT!
Inspect your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fall
protection anchorage for damages or possible causes for
malfunction before use. Consult the designated user manual
for advanced instruction on how to pre-use check the fall
protection equipment.
ARE YOU USING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOB?
Use the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); at least a
full-body harness and an appropriate connecting device. If
there is no permanent anchorage available, a temporary
anchor point must be used.
ARE YOU AWARE OF THE LOCATION OF THE FALL
PROTECTION SYSTEMS OR ANCHORS AND THE FALL
HAZARDS AT THIS SITE?
Ask for a roof plan or a location plan on where the roof anchors
or safety systems are located before entering the roof. It is
important to know the fall hazards and the designated tie-off
points for every work location.

TO WORK WITH THE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE?
If you are regularly working with fall protection equipment,
you must be sure to know the user instructions of such
equipment. Proper instructions make the difference between
life and death!
HOW ARE THE WEATHER CONDITIONS?
Please be aware of the hazards that working at height in
certain weather conditions entails, such as hypothermia or
dehydration. Avoid harsh conditions and look out slippery
surfaces!
ARE YOU AWARE OF THE RESCUE PLAN AND
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO ACT IN CASE OF A FALL?
Never work alone. Be sure you know who to call in case of
emergency and use a full-body harness and be aware on
what to do to prevent harness suspension trauma in case of
a fall. The danger is NOT averted when you’re dangling in the
air inside your harness!
