Argumentative Essay

Parents are divided on whether or not to vaccinate their children. Parents should
vaccinate their child because their child might get severely ill and diseases might spread. Which
it is important to vaccinate our children, right? But some parents might believe that vaccines can
cause harm to children or vaccinations are connected to autism. Which makes some parents not
want to vaccinate their child which is an issue. Parents who believe in false information about
vaccinations cause the vaccination rates to go down.
Vaccinations prevent illness from polio, measles, mumps, whooping cough and rubella. If
a child isn't vaccinated from these illnesses they will get severely ill. Then if a child gets ill they
can possibly get another person ill. There are measles cases growing because of the fact parents
are not vaccinating their children. An newsela article states, “health officials warn that parents
are putting their children at risk of contracting virus that can be deadly.” If a child gets ill from a
deadly virus this could possibly kill them. Next if the child isn't treated for any medication or
some type of disease to help them it will kill the child. Vaccinations don't harm or get children ill
it helps prevent them from illness or death.
Many parents are not vaccinating their children because of false information and
conspiracy theories about them. Then because of religious beliefs or the child could be allergic to
anything that’s in a certain vaccine. Which is a major issue that could cause diseases to spread
and get other people ill. Especially people who have weak immune systems. This will cause
outbreaks in any illness like measles. In a BBC video stated “New York state has declared a state
of emergency following a severe outbreak of measles…” “Other outbreaks of the disease in
Washington, California, Texas and Illinois.” This is an issue if there are many outbreaks people
will get severely ill if untreated. They can die from the illness. This is all because of vaccines
rates dropping, false information going around and parents that will believe this information. If
parents aren’t treating their children they're putting them at risk.
On the other side of the party some would argue that parents shouldn’t vaccinate their
children. They believe in false information that says vaccines can have very harmful side effects
& are possibly connected to autism. A Newsela article says “conspiracy theories on supposedly
negative side effects of vaccinations.” They believe that these negative side effects can cause
autism or it can harm children. However, the CDC claims “Some people had concerns that ASD
might be linked to the vaccines children receive, but studies have shown that there is no link
between receiving vaccines and developing ASD.” This show us that autism is not linked to
vaccinations and causes no actual harm to children. Parents vaccinating their children can be
difficult decision. But if they chose not to vaccinate their child, they are taking a risk at getting
their child hospitalised or they are risking their child dying from a illness. Vaccinations can
prevent a child from getting ill from any deadly disease.
In conclusion, vaccinations prevent children from diseases, spreading diseases and death.
Even though some parents have been tricked into thinking that vaccinating their child will harm
them in the future. Those parents should find out more information on vaccines and how they
could help the child rather than harm the child. Vaccinating your child is necessary because if an
child gets ill from any disease they could spread it on others. Then that would cause an outbreak
like the measles. Therefore parents should vaccinate their child to protect them from illness,
death and to keep them alive.
