I’m aAté 10xbehind

Calendar Crochet-Along due to a bad cold,

so let’s just get right to the pattern for

today, an amigurumi seahorse!

for this project. All photos and opinions are

my own. There may be affiliate links in this

post.

Honestly, this was one of the last

amigurumi that I designed for the advent

calendar because I thought it’d be too

difficult to get the right shape while

keeping it small, and have too many pieces

to sew on. It just nagged at me, but I

realized this was something I really wanted

to make and I should just buckle down and

think it through. In the ends, I’m super

pleased with how it turned out, and it’s

simpler than you’d expect!

MY L ATEST VIDEOS

The seahorse is worked in continuous

rounds, from the tail all the way up to the

head, so it’s no different than the

pomegranate or the persimmon in that

respect. It’s just that shaping that’s

different. And here’s the secret: there’s a

piece of pipe cleaner in the tail to create

that telltale seahorse curl. Other than the

pipecleaner stuck into the tail, the

construction of the seahorse is pretty

straight-forward. Once the body is

finished, you’ll sew on the nose, the back

mane, and the side fins, all of which are

easy to do.

PATTERN NOTES

Rounds in the seahorse are

worked continuously with no

seams.

Mane is worked in rows and

then sewn on to the back of the

seahorse.

First few rounds are worked

into front loops only to make it

easier on those tight rounds.

Make sure to not crochet too

tightly. You’ll need to fit in a

pipe cleaner!

Pipe cleaner should have both

ends turned in so there’s no

sharp edges. Final length of

pipe cleaner is about 2″.

Eyes are placed approximately

1.0-1.25 inches apart.

Amigurumi can be closed using

this technique
technique.

Oops I’m thinking this

should say insert pipe

cleaner after round 4?

“After Round 6, insert

pipe cleaner into the

tail. Continue working

Rounds 4-6 around the

pipe cleaner.”

I hope your cold goes

away and you feel

better soon.
