“Voting: A Political Spectacle”

The competence, integrity, and candour of Filipino candidates are primarily challenged

during the election period. On top of that, Filipino electorates are obliged to fulfil their duties as

responsible citizens of the country by applying correct judgment and reason while selecting their

choice of political candidates. That is why it’s remarkably crucial to get recent updates and

research about general elections, election officials, political dynasties, registration processes

and more.

Since the Philippines established a democratic form of government, Filipino citizens are

expected to choose their country’s leaders without any form of restraint by anyone. With this

natural right in their hands, they can fully exercise freedom of expression, choice and speech.

However, there will be cases wherein some voters find it difficult to display conciliatory

behaviour with other voters who do not accede to their political opinions and beliefs. Still, the

discrepancies in each perspective don’t mean a big deal when you can choose your own leader

for the country. What’s significant is that the Filipino citizens further examine political details with

attention and are emphatic in deciding who their national role models should be.

Voting first and foremost requires registration. Filipino citizens are asked to have a

voter’s record at the Commission on Election in order to roll their votes. Another is that they

must always keep in mind the following requests: Qualifications, Valid Identification Cards,

Naturalization, Citizenship and Age Requirement. They must submit all of the documents to

their election officers, so that they can complete the process.

The Overseas Filipino Workers can vote by submitting their application to do absentee

voting. Their decisions will be deemed valid only if their applications are approved. As for the

Naturalized Filipinos, they are allowed to choose their national leaders. What they cannot do is

apply for certain government positions in the country.

It can be said that Filipino voters are worthy of great honor. It is primal for them to

prioritize the welfare of the country by voting wisely. Despite the avalanche that registration

processes brings, they still intend to rectify matters by maximizing their abilities to vote and

choose with conscience and responsibility.

There are particular kinds of political candidates that Filipino citizens must not vote for.

Examples include those who convince people with false promises (cajoling), the narrow-minded,

the greedy for wealth, perverse demagogues, jealous or bitter of erstwhile candidates who also

strive for success, deceivers, corrupt, and immoral. Voting these types of political candidates

can give off several repercussions that may negatively affect the whole country and the

international governments. Filipino citizens, as a matter of fact, should vote for officials, who are

willing to save the country from poverty, continuously seek for knowledge, have charitable

outlooks, educated, and work towards unravelling the truth.

Political debates are considered to be of extensive help when there is a need for political

probation and fact-checking. Debates are also the means through which ideas and arguments

are meticulously analyzed to gather information accurately. With debates, you can recognize

the presence or lack of credibility in the politicians’ speech. If there’s truthfulness in what the

politicians are saying, then there is an increased chance that the politician will be chosen by

most of the country’s citizens. This marks the quality of honesty and sincerity. If the politician is

leans on misology, then he/she may be viewed as an ignorant and narrow-minded human
being. This might show that he has insufficient knowledge and information regarding

governance and politics.

Clearly, there are other platforms through which we can identify whether or not a political

candidate or official is efficient to carry out his/her government role he/she is aiming for. We

must never forget the qualifications required for a political candidate to be offered the seat of

power because we are the people who are to be governed under that specific ruler. Good

leadership, sincere and kind intentions, strength of character, education, decency, morality,

resiliency, and integrity are only some of the qualifications we look for a great leader. May our

rational decisions and sound judgment never falter in the course of the election process. The

Filipino lives and the democratic state of the country heavily depend on the future president and

government officials. Vote as if your life span will increase if you choose your boss righteously.

Vote as if there’s no tomorrow.
