We know it’s spring when the
robins return. We knew it was a
miracle when Robby came home, as
a herald for the wonder and passion
for life in God’s creation.
For years now the robins have
feasted on the dry cat kibble that
we set out on our back porch, for
the outdoor cats. Last summer,
my mother pointed out a flurry

Hope Springs continued from front
one day in late October, most of the robins left our yard.
During the next week, we looked for Robby amongst
the stragglers, and I wistfully resigned his fate to the
migration call. The deepest meaning within him drove
Robby to answer the call to journey and trust his Creator’s
purpose for his life.
Perry, who had named Robby, smiled and said,
“You may see him again in the Spring.” (Robins migrate
in small flocks from our north country to the southern
states, traveling thousands of miles, as they move from
one fruit source to another.)
We both laughed at the incredulity of that thought,
given Robby’s damaged wing and the distance that his
limited flight ability would need to negotiate.
I made peace with Robby’s leaving and my
experimental attempt to provide a winter sanctuary for
a wild bird. Not wanting him to suffer and believing he
would struggle to keep up with the flock moving south, I
said a prayer for his quick demise. I admit that I also left
the heating pad plugged in much of the winter in case
another bird would venture into the shelter.
In early April, with the return of the first robins,
Perry and I began subconsciously watching. I know my
heart was longing for what seemed to be impossible.
One morning as Perry and I returned to the house
after completing our animal-care chores, we turned to
each other, the light of hope in our eyes and blurted out
simultaneously, “Did you see him!?!”
We had confirmed the dropped wing. Robby had
survived the cold journey south and had thrived, making
it back home to our yard. He is now flying to roof tops,
perching high in trees and on telephone wires, calling
for a mate! Soon, he’ll be helping to feed a brood of
hatchlings.
“Hope” is a compass that does “spring eternal.”
Creation gives us incredible examples to follow in
learning to use our own struggle with brokenness as we
move forward on the journey, overcoming obstacles,
creating purpose in our lives. ~ Sheila

Montana Fairwill remember that catchy little tune. The month of
May was Ford Peanut Butter Month, and Hi-Line Ford’s Peanut
Butter Drive was a success thanks to a generous community.
Over 300 pounds were delivered to the Valley County Food Bank
last week. Peanut butter is a highly desirable staple for food
banks, a rich source of protein, kid-friendly and delicious! So
it is especially desirable in the summer months when school

I have lost my cell phone so when
you feel like calling you’ll need to use my
land line 406 364 2113. I requested
“no out-going long distance” with
my phone service (for which they are
charging me .52 per month to not have long distance!)
At first I was not concerned, but as time passed non-
concern became real concern.. I searched every vehicle I
was in yesterday i.e. the Versatile 875 tractor, the TW 35
tractor, my Ranger pickup, the Peterbuilt semi with the
seed in it, the Top Kick with the 40’ horse trailer hooked
to it, my work pickup and Donna’s car.
My neighbor Gerry and I went to every vehicle I
was in yesterday and while I sat inside he called my cell
number.
Then my thought’s turned to.....Yikes....I had had (I
know) my phone turned to jiggle. No sound!
About then my palms began to sweat and I got
the shakes. I started seeing things like pink elephants,
snakes, ex-wives and such.
How does a person survive in this tech world without
a cell phone to use while driving, while being interviewed
for a job, while in class, while talking with friends and
etc?
I have to haul 50 baby calves to pasture somewhere
near Froid in the morning. A semi will haul the mothers.
After seeing that they are mothered-up properly I will
come back home, park the truck, go to the house and
wait for the nice folks from the rehab place to come get
me.
Being cell-phone-less is a real bugger you know.

OBITUARY
Jason Dahl
In the early morning
hours of June 7th, 2019
Jason slipped his earthly
bonds to soar off on his next
adventure!
Jason Micheal Dahl
was born to Phyllis and
Keith Dahl on September
26, 1977 in Glasgow, MT. He joined a sister Leta who
eventually made him an uncle to Garrett, Cody, Dillon,
Laci and a brother-in-law to Chuck.
Jason graduated from Glasgow High School in 1996
and continued to make Glasgow his home. Northeast
Montana provided Jason with an endless amount of open
space to let his restless spirit roam, whether it was setting
off sparkler bombs on the Milk River, fishing at Fort Peck
or roaming the hills looking for rocks, wild Echinacea or
just good old rusty junk!
Jason worked in construction most of his life and
was a master tile layer. He had the skills to match his
imagination. He was always tinkering with different
projects — building and creating and the end result
would almost always leave you awestruck!
When he wasn’t working, he had a passion for living
life. He was an animal lover, flyer of remote control
airplanes, motorcycle riding, and a snowmobile junkie
who had the compassion to help anybody in any situation
and BS with the best of them!
Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert
and Bennie Lingle and Norm Dahl.
Jason is survived by his mother Phyllis Dahl,
father Keith Dahl, sister Leta Godwin (Chuck) and
grandmother Fay Dahl, numerous aunts and uncles,
nieces and nephews and many people he called friends.
Even with his wild imagination, he will never know the
impact that he had on so many!
A memorial service will be held at Bell Mortuary on
Friday, June 14th at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow
at the VFW to celebrate Jason’s life.
