IMPORTANT NOTES

1. These dimensions are based on 90°

(perpendicular) pipe taps. For other types of
hot taps (into weld caps, blind flanges, cast
iron or concrete pipe, taps for plugging jobs,
or at angles other than perpendicular to run of
the pipe) please inquire with full details.

2. Dimensional limitations can, in many cases,

be improved on a specific hot tap. For
example:

a. "A" Dimension can be increased in most

cases if the "B" and "C" dimensions can
also be increased.
b. "B" Dimension can be lessened on 1"
through 6" taps if the "A" dimension can
aslo be lessened.
c. "C" Dimension can be lessened in one
direction by rotating tapping machine.
d. Other changes can be affected for special
applications.

3. Tapping valves should be full opening gate or

ball valves with necessary I.D. to pass cutting
tool (see "Valve Requirements" below)

VALVE REQUIREMENTS:

Tapping valves for use with any of above cutters must have a full round opened I.D. of at least 1/8" greater than cutter
O.D. In some cases, seat ring lugs must be ground in order to meet Min. I.D.

INFORMATION NEEDED FOR HOT TAPS:

A. Hot tap sizes including the ANSI flange rating of the tapping valve.
B. Details including those listed below on the line being hot tapped:
1. Line size, wall thickness, and pipe material.
2. Product, pressure, and temperature in line.
3. "A" dimension.
4. "B" & "C" dimensional restrictions.
5. Hot tap orientation (such as - vertical from the top or the bottom, horizontal, etc.)
C. Provide details, if other than perpendicular carbon steel pipe tap through full opening valve.
