Functional Approach
Organizations (companies) are complex systems that must
somehow be decomposed in order to be manageable. A
common way to decompose a company is to divide it
hierarchically into functional departments (e.g. sales and
production). Such an approach is “functional”

Introduction
The functional approach is one of the methods used in classification of
activities that occur in the marketing processes by breaking down the
processes into functions. A marketing function is defined as a major
specialized activity performed in accomplishing the marketing process.
This topic discusses a widely acceptable list of marketing functions
which includes exchange functions, physical functions and facilitative
functions. Exchange functions are mainly composed of buying and
selling while physical functions are comprised of storage, transportation
and processing. However, facilitating functions are composed of
standardization, financing, risk bearing and market intelligence.
1) Functional Approach in Marketing, Engineering,
Accounting, etc.
In this approach, different people are organized in such a way that they
work together in groups to form departments. The focus is common skill
and synchronized work activities, such as marketing, engineering
maintenance, accounting, etc. This is the most commonly adopted form
of organization structure. In same aspects, it exists in most
organizations. A key characteristic of functional organization is
specialization by functional area:
2) Functional Approach in Data Filtering &
Interpolation Company.
This research work explores the use of mobile and positioning
technologies stimulating a context adaptive and location-based learning
model. The proposed model utilizes a set of context factors for learning
service dissemination; described as learning service area, learning
service type, and service interaction level. In addition, the new model
considers the availability of positioning technology for authoring location-
based learning content, and for accurately disseminating learning
services. Hence, tolerance to position errors is used to classify learning
services into two types; generic and specific.
3) Functional Approach in Drilling and Blasting
Technology Company.
The authors consider the system approach to finding ways of no-man
drilling and blasting in the face area by means of automation and
robotization of operations with a view to reducing injuries in mines. The
analysis is carried out in terms of the drilling and blasting technology
applied in Makarevskoe Coal Field, Kuznetsk Coal Basin. Within the
system-functional approach and using INDEFO procedure, the
processes of drilling and blasthole charging are decomposed into related
elementary operations. The automation and robotization methods to
avoid the presence of miners in the face are found for each operation.
