COURSE TITLE

Social Science 1 (Philippine Politics and Governance)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the students to the basic concepts and vital elements of politics and
governance from a historical-institutional perspective. In particular, it attempts to explain how the
important features of our country’s political structures/institutions,processes, and relationships
developed across time. In the process, the course helps the learners gain a better appreciation of
their rights and responsibilities as individuals and as members of the larger sociopolitical
community to strengthen their civic competence.

COURSE GOALS

This course should enable students to:


1. To understand essential and basic laws/procedural processes
2. To instill the mind of students with the awareness of proper governance through this
course
3. To appreciate Philippine constitutions as the highest governing law of the land.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
All students are required to:
1. attend class periods regularly;
2. complete the monthly Performance Tasks;
3. submit a written works/outputs on time and;
4. pass the Weekly Assessment Tests and Quarterly Assessments (Midterm and Final
Examination).
