FAISAL S AL NAIMI .Co.Ltd. realizes the environmental concerns and importance of incorporating the

environmental needs in our Business to meet the client’s requirements.

3. SANITATION & WASTE MANAGEMENT


CAMP & OFFICE FACILITES:

FAISAL S AL NAIMI .Co.Ltd. Herein after referred to as Company shall comply with the requirements of Saudi
Aramco Environmental Requirements as per Construction Safety Manual

The Camp & Offices shall meet provisions of The Saudi Arabia’s labor and Workmen law and Aramco Safety, Health
and Environmental requirements and Saudi Aramco Sanitary Code. Sanitation at the camp shall be ensured by the
installation of appropriate toilet facilities and by daily collection and disposal of Sanitary and Solid Wastes. All
trashes, Garbage and wastes shall be put in proper dumpsters and shall be collected and disposed by proper
means. Good Housekeeping shall be maintained in the Camp and office facilities.

Good Housekeeping shall be planned at the beginning of the job and carefully supervised and followed to the final
cleanup. Covered containers, drums etc. shall be provided at various locations throughout the work site and clearly
marked. Rubbish disposal” Dumpsters” shall be provided and removed from site when full or on a suitable interval
basis. Construction debris, domestic wastes, oily wastes and hazardous wastes should not be mixed upon
collection.

All scrap with protruding nails will be removed or cleaned up immediately. Containers must be emptied promptly.
Burning of waste materials will not be done on work site. All combustible debris shall be disposed off at a properly
licensed location

A sufficient number of rubbish containers will be provided throughout the work areas. A safe means of entry and
exit will be provided at all times and work areas will be kept clear and un-obstructed

Materials and supplies shall be stored in locations, which will not block access and will allow for easy clean up.

All pint materials shall be stored in Covered area.


Dust will be controlled on a daily basis by frequent sweeping or wetting of the work area.

All equipment to be checked for any leaks or oil drips and repaired immediately.

PERIODIC INSPECTIONS:

Company Work sites and Camp Facilities are subjected to periodic inspections by Company Safety
personnel as well as Saudi Aramco representatives, Loss Prevention, Fire Protection and preventive
medicine services. Any non-compliance will be rectified immediately without failure.

4. WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM


4.1 ENVIRONMENTAL
Program Description

This section outlines the policy and procedures related to environmental management of air, water,
and soil that are administered through the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Department. EH&S
has primary responsibility for environmental management through implementation of regulations
associated with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and use of hazardous materials and disposal of
hazardous wastes. This section also defines the responsibilities of the various units whose actions
have the potential to affect these aspects of environmental management.

This section does not apply to environmental protection, regulation, and permitting associated with
other laws and programs such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Endangered
Species Act, cultural resource regulations, land use planning, and various aspects of transportation
planning.

It is the policy of FAISAL S AL NAIMI to act as a steward of environmental resources and to take
proactive measures to protect the environment and comply with Federal, State, and local laws and
regulations. It is also the Company’s policy to investigate suspected contaminant releases to air,
water, or soil and to remediate such releases if necessary.

Scope

EH&S provides specialized services to the campus in the area of environmental management, which includes the
following:

Air emissions. To comply with rules and regulations, FAISAL S AL NAIMI must obtain permits and provide
reports to the Saudi Aramco for air emission sources and toxic air contaminants.

Resources Control Board’s. The program ensures that facilities such as FSN develops and implements a system-
specific Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)

Requirements, FAISAL S AL NAIMI perform routine environmental monitoring of air, water, or soil.

Environmental releases. Any releases or spills should immediately be reported to Saudi Aramco , which will
determine the appropriate response and notification actions.

Environmental remediation. When contamination of the environment is found, FAISAL S AL NAIMI, with
regulatory agency oversight, works to investigate the nature and extent of impacts, evaluate potential
remedies, and take appropriate remedial action

Hazardous materials management. Federal and State laws and regulations require FAISAL S AL NAIMI to
properly document and store hazardous materials on site.

Hazardous waste management. Chemical, radiological, universal, and medical wastes are managed in
accordance with Federal, State, and local requirements through EH&S.

Resources Control Board’s. The program ensures that facilities such as FSN develops and implements a
system-specific Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP).

Responsibilities

A. Departmental/Unit Responsibilities

• Ensure that environmental laws, regulations, and FAISAL S AL NAIMI policies and procedures are
followed.
• Work with EH&S to obtain permits when required.
• Maintain compliance with all environmental permits and the Saudi Aramco authorizations.
• Refer regulatory agencies to EH&S.
• Perform environmental monitoring, contract for laboratory analysis, and make reports as required by
permits or regulations.
• Seek consultation from EH&S about environmental requirements that apply to site operations.
• Provide training for employees in operational requirements pertaining to environmental management
and maintain records of such training.
• Ensure that activities with potential for environmental impact are performed within approved
operating procedures and that any required records are current.
• Notify Saudi Aramco EH&S immediately of any environmental releases or spills.

B. Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities

Represent the Company when dealing with regulatory agencies

Assist Company with preparation of environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports as mandated by
laws, regulations, permits, licenses, and use authorization

• Assure that reports are submitted to agencies on time and in compliance with applicable requirements.
• Serve as office of record for environmental permits.
• Investigate reports of environmental releases and notify Federal, State, and local authorities in a timely
manner, as required

C. Employee Responsibilities

• Be fully aware of the environmental impact of activities and comply with all requirements that govern
those activities
• Refer regulatory agencies to EH&S.
• Adhere to all environmental requirements contained in permits and standard operating procedures.
• Participate in energy conservation, recycling, and pollution prevention programs.
• Take immediate action to stop releases to the environment and report all instances of environmental
releases to EH&S.
• Notify supervisor of conditions that have the potential to become environmental hazards and take
appropriate preventive measures as directed.

4.2 HAZARDOUS MATERIAL AND WASTE MANAGEMENT


All FSN employees who handle hazardous material will be trained to handle such material, and will wear all
manufacturers recommended safety equipment.

Hazardous waste shall not be disposed of on-site; it shall be temporary stored in tightly closed, leakage proof
containers in a designated on-site area prior to be collected and transported in an approved waste
management facilities, as per the Saudi Aramco Safety & Environmental policy.

The Safety Officer is responsible for the management of the waste streams and, all comply with the Waste
Management Procedures.
4.2.1 CONTAINERS AND STORAGE:

Solid, waste shall be stored such that it will not constitute a fire, health, safety or environmental hazard, or be
accessible to animals. All refuse containing food waste shall be stored in covered or closed containers which
are leak proof, durable and designed for safe handling and easy cleaning. Construction debris and demolition
material will not be allowed to accumulate so that it presents an environmental health and safety hazard.
Disinfected office sewage will go to a designated sump and be removed periodically by vacuum truck

4.3 SANITATION & WASTE DISPOSAL

4.3.1 WORK SITE & OFFICE FACILITES

FSN herein after referred to as Company shall comply with the requirements of the Saudi Aramco
Environmental Requirements as per Construction Safety Manual.

The Work Site & Offices shall meet provisions of The Saudi Arabia’s labor and Workmen law and the Saudi
Aramco Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and Saudi Aramco Sanitary Code. Sanitation at the
Work Site shall be ensured by the installation of appropriate Portable toilet facilities and by daily collection and
disposal of Sanitary and Solid Wastes. All trashes, Garbage and wastes shall be put in proper dumpsters and
shall be collected and disposed by proper means. Good Housekeeping shall be maintained in the Camp site and
office facilities.

Dumping area. This process shall follow the Saudi Aramco traffic & Vehicle Safety rules and Care shall be taken
to avoid any traffic/vehicle accidents while loading, transporting and dumping of Wastes.

suitable interval basis.

4.3.3 PERIODIC INSPECTIONS

Company Work sites and Camp Facilities are subjected to periodic inspections by Company Safety personnel
as well as the Saudi Aramco representatives, Loss Prevention, Fire Protection and preventive medicine
services. Any non-compliance will be rectified immediately without failure.

4.4 HOUSE KEEPING AND MATERIAL STORAGE

4.4.1 Housekeeping

• During the course of construction, all debris and scrap material shall be kept away from the work
area. Work areas shall be cleaned at the end of each shift.
• Containers shall be provided by FSN for the collection and separation of waste, trash, oily and used
rags and other refuse. Metal (Dumpster type) containers must be used and emptied promptly.
• Garbage and other waste shall be disposed of at frequent and regular intervals in a manner approved
by Saudi Aramco.

4.4.2 Mobile Pantry

• FSN shall provide Mobile pantry to all vehicles consisting of Water cooler, cool box etc.., especially for
the long journey one’s. .

4.4.3 Lunch / Break Areas

• Employees shall take breaks and eat lunch in designated areas only. These areas shall be free from
hazardous materials or other possible contaminates.
• Lunch and break areas shall be removed from active work areas where employees would be exposed to
ongoing work while eating lunch or taking a break.
• FSN shall ensure all trash, debris and food residues are cleaned up at the end of the break.
• Consumption of food shall be prohibited in work areas.

• The lunch and break areas shall be shaded against sun and sandstorms. The locations and
requirement of such facility shall be approved by Saudi Aramco.

4.4.4 Waste Containers

Waste containers with lids will be provided for general refuse.


Metal waste containers with self-closing lids will be provided for the safe disposal of flammable waste and
rags. Flammable waste will be discarded in the approved disposal area. Flammable containers will not be used
for disposing of smoking materials in camp or accommodation. As a general rule “Waste flammable containers

intended for disposal when recycled should not be welded or torched to avoid possible rupture due to the
accumulation of flammable gas inside the container, when heated”.

4.4.5 Waste Removal

Waste containers will be emptied when full, to prevent rubbish being thrown around. Waste materials will not
be accumulated in working areas.

4.4.6 Material Storage Areas


Stores supervisors will ensure that their personnel are aware of emergency and fire alarm procedures, and any
stored material for which a special procedure is required. Good housekeeping practices will prevail. Smoking
and heat producing devises are prohibited.
All materials must be stored in such a manner that will not create a hazard, and will protect the materials from
damage.
The method of storage will not block aisles, means of exit, fire extinguisher or the access. Doors shall not be
obstructed or blocked and a clearance of at least 1 m maintained around all doors, to ensure unimpeded exit in
an emergency.

4.5 PROJECT SITE DRINKING WATER

FSN shall provide Project Site Drinking Water (Potable Water) for the employees. This drinking water should be
inspected daily and it should be free from dirt and dust. The potable water should be placed in a clean plastic
container and shall be shaded against sun and sandstorm. The location and requirements of such facility shall
be approved by Saudi Aramco.
