III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminaries

Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity

1. Prayer and Greetings
Let us all stand and pray Amen

Good afternoon class? Good afternoon, Maam

2. Checking of Attendance
Who are our absent for today? Pupils will report the absent for the day.

3. Checking of Assignment
Do we have an assignment?
Everybody please get your assignment. ( Pupils will get their assignment)

4. Drill
Are you ready for our usual routine? Yes, maam
You have to give me the answer as fast as
you can by performing the operation
given.
What is the product of 12 by 11, 13 by Pupils will give their answer
16,17 by 23?

5. Review
Before we proceed to our next lesson, let
us have a short review about our previous
lesson which is multiplication of multiple
digit number. I will call participant per
row to answer the operation given. ( pupils called will perform the operation given on
the board)

6. Motivation
( Showing of picture)What can you see on
the picture? I can see a picture of a girl putting a coin on a
piggy bank
How much money does your mother give
you everyday for your allowance? ( Answer may vary)

Do you spend all or you save some ( Answer may vary but the teacher will infuse the
amount? value of saving money)

Why do you save some amount from your

allowance?

What do you do with the money that you

save? Do you spend it wisely? Yes, maam. We use the money that we save in
time of emergency.
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
( pupilswill read the problem )
Rosa receives from her mother an
amount of 55php as her daily allowance
in school. She saves 5.oophp for future
expenses. How much does she receive as
monthly allowance excluding Saturdays
and Sundays? How much does she save
in a month?

Who received daily allowance in school

excluding Saturday and Sunday? Rosa received daily allowance for school

What is asked in the problem? We have two questions to answer maam. The first
one is How much does she receive as monthly
allowance excluding Saturday and Sunday?the
second is How much does she save in a month?
Very good. And what are the given facts?
Maam, the given facts are the amount of allowance
given to Rosa which is 55php for 5 days. And the

the necessary information to answer the
questions, let’s put the problem this way.

Rosa’s Daily Allowance

Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri.

55 55 55 55 55
55 55 55 55 55

Who can tell me what is the table all

about? What does the table represents?
Ma’am, the table represents the daily allowance of
That was a very nice observation. Rosa from Monday to Friday in a month. Her
daily allowance is 55pesos.

How many days are there in a table?

Maam, there are 20 days in a table.
Very good! So how are we going to get
her total allowance in a month?
Maam, we will get her total daily allowance in a
month by multiplying her daily allowance which
is 55 to the number of days in a month which is
That is right! Using this table we will be 20.
able to get the total daily allowance of
Rosa by multiplying her daily allowance
which is 55 to the number of days in the
month which is 20.
What will be the product if we multiply
55 to 20?

That is correct! So the total allowance of Maam, the product is 1100.

Rosa in a month excluding Saturday and
Sunday is 1100.
Rosa’s Savings
How about her savings? Can we do it Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri.

2. Performing the activity
This time we are going to have a
group activity but before that, what
are the things to be remembered while
doing an activity?
Possible answer includes:
( Setting of standards) - Show cooperation
- Follow the direction
- Finish on time
It seems that you are all ready for our
activity. For 5 minutes you have to
accomplish the given task to you and
your leader will present your output
on the board.
On weekdays, Joel earns 200php as his income in
For group 1 and 3 you have to present selling fruits. While he earns 300php on Saturdays
your work using table presentation. and 350php on Sundays, how much will he earn
in two weeks?
For group 2 and 4 you have to present
using problem-solution method.

( the teacher will monitor the

activityof the class)

Are you done? Yes, maam.

3. Processing the activities ( Leaders of the four groups will present their
Let us proceed to the presentation of outputs using the table presentation and the
output. problem solution method.)

4. Reinforcing the Concept Skill

On your paper let us answer this
question.
The Department of health distributes
1255 medicine kits to every town in a
certain region.

How many medicine kits will be

distributed if there are 16 towns in ( the pupils will answer the question on their
that region? paper)
5. Summarizing the Lesson
How do you solve non-routine word
problems involving multiplication of
whole numbers including money
using appropriate strategies and tools?

( the teacher will solicit responses We can solve non routine word problem involving
from the pupils) multiplication of whole numbers including money
using appropriate strategies and tools such as
table presentation and problem-solution method.
Who can repeat the statement? ( the pupils will repeat the statement given)
6. Applying to new and other
situation
This time , we will solve another
problem. I will call someone to
answer the problem on the board
while others will answer on your
paper.

( The teacher will call 1

representative from boys and1 from
girls)

( pupils called will answer on the board while

Tiles are sold by the box of ten others will answer on their paper)
pieces. A box of tile costs 480 pesos.
If Mr Cruz needs 547 pieces of tiles
for his apartment, how much will he
spend?
IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Solve the following
problems:

taxi every week. How much will
he earn in 10 weeks if there is no
problem with the taxi?
2. The manager of a garment factory
pays each of his workers 420php
a day.How much does he pay his
16 workers in a day?
V. ASSIGNMENT
