INTRODUCTION

The word challenging means difficult in a way that tests your ability or

determination. If this word is used to describe subjects in school, it can mean

subjects which are difficult and hard to understand. Definitely, such subjects pose

a great deal of effects to students. According to Stephanie Allen (2014), Lots of us

have to do subjects we don’t like ang find it difficult to a high level- some as far

as university and after. And lots of students deploy the same avoidance tactics as I

did, ignoring the problem, and hoping freak Martian landing on exam day might

mean it never comes back to haunt them. It only goes to suggest that difficult

subjects in school, have great impact to students. In one way or another, this

impact can make or break a student.

This topic is of serious concern since a lot of students who find certain

subjects difficult do not recognize their effects to them and thus do not deal with

them intelligently. When a student identifies subjects in school which are

challenging, he can accept its effects to him which will help him to manage and

overcome them eventually.

This research expects to identify the three most challenging subjects in

school and their effects to students.

BACKGROUND OF THE SURVEY

The researches have focused in identifying the 3 most challenging subjects

in school and their effects to students as perceived by JHS students of Sariaya

Institute. In Sariaya Institute, the researchers have observed that there are many

students who find their subjects challenging or difficult. This is the reason why

they get low academic performance. Based on the concept above, the researchers

pursue to identify the 3 most challenging subjects in school and their effects to

students as perceived by JHS students of Sariaya Institute.
