achievement score are retention than field dependent group of students. Through

cooperative learning, students yielded better mean gains on achievement score

and retention score on items.

Sharma (2008) conducted a study on conventional teaching vs.

learning in small group. In this study, an attempt was made to find the

effectiveness of cooperative learning method in learning geography at

elementary level. The study showed that performance of students was better

when they learned under cooperative learning the method as compare to their

counterparts. The study was conducted that learning in small group resulted in

Positive student outcomes”.

Hameed and Sahidharan (2011) made a study on effectiveness of

sigsaw II model on achievement in Malaya language of standard VIII. The result

of the study proved that group the experimental group revealed significant

difference in the achievement score, in all the comparison, the experimental

group in which coop

erative learning strategy was applied, excelled the control group, for which

lecture methods of teaching method was used. In higher meaning pupils tough

through cooperative learning achieved more over the pupils taught through

lecture of teaching.
