To ltVhom It May Concern,

I am writing this recommendation letter on behalf of my student teacher, Emmalee Mills, who
completed her teaching internship with me in the winter semester of the2017-2018 school year.
During her placement here at Clague Middle Sdrool she had the opportunify to teach 8th grade
French 1.,7thgrade French 1, and 6th grade exploratory French. At Clague she has honed her skills
in teaching and leaming. This includes cteating clear learning targetq formative and summative
assessments using authentic resources, grading with rubrics based on the ACTFL
WORLD-READINESS STANDARDS FORLEARNING LANGUAGES with afocus on
Communication: Interpretive, Interpersonal and Presentationaf speaking in the target language and
her use of Compreheniible input. The majorify of Ms. Mills's teaihing experience focusedon
teadring two sections of 8th grade French, where sfudents are able to earn a High School credit.

Ms. Mills began the school year by observing the routines of our classes. After a short observation
period Ms. Mills jumped right irU establishing her own expectations with the students, then
gradually took on teaching responsibilities like planning and grading. Ms. Mills spent a lot of time
gefting to know students and worked very hard on building and maintaining connections. Ms. Mills
excelled in lesson planning, creating wonderful activities full of culture. She wanted sfudents to
experience the francophone world through a lens of curiosity and a desire to leam more. Even when
she was not teaching a class, Ms. Mills always made herself accessible to any student in need. She
held daily study sessions during her lunch hour where any student could drop in and ameliorate
their proficienry. I truly appreciate her commitment to our students. In addition to her daily
teaching responsibilitie+ Ms. Mills attended district professional development opportunities, our
building staff meetings, and student sporting events.

Ms. Mills has a deep love of the French language and culture, She is a kind, thoughtful, and
caring educator who has high expectations for students but gives them the resources to meet those
expectations. She also strives to maximize their exposure to the target language in the classroom
whenever she can. Ms. Mills created an engaging unit on French Cuisine that included authentic
readings, video clips, communicative activities and a proiect. Ms. Mills is clearly ready to be in her
own classroom. She is a hard worker and a good team player. She will be an outstanding addition
to any middle school or high school teaching staff.
