TRAINERS

METHODOLOGY
BASIC COMPETENCY

Prepared by: Laurice Jane A. Sator

1. LEAD WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION

Communication is an act of expressing, conveying, and exchanging

information’s to someone else through gestures, sign languages, dialect,

language, etc. In leading in a workplace communication is an ability to

express and relay to the other person wherein both engaged the internal and

external practice meaning. It is also part in a workplace communication to

convey action, which can lead to gestures to express what he/she wants to

say where there are some hesitation and doubts in terminology especially in

many technical terms used in millennial era. In this particular area follow-

up is very important on the effectiveness of the instruction. Heart to heart

approach is very important in workplace communication.

2. APPLY MATH AND SCIENCE PRINCIPLES IN TECHNICAL TRAINING

Mathematics plays more roles in our lives and it’s reality. It is used as

part of the study in science. Although, science may appear to be a quite

different but the study can ultimately readily adopt the concept of

understanding science.

The essence of science studied of how the universe and things exist in

this universe. Math can reveal and relate what science discovers by helping

relationship between math and science. The relationship of science and

math can accurately determine the calculation based on scientific

principles.

Example: in the application of volume count survey of different

intersection were both are applicable. Like for instance, the volume count of

vehicle passing in a certain intersection, It can easily be determine on how

many are passing in different directions; first going straight second, going to

the right and third, going to the left. There are four-lane legs; therefore

twelve were passing in a four-leg intersection.

The mathematical concept is that, every vehicle is counted. Meaning,

the quantities of vehicle volume were considered.

The scientific approach is that, how does it affect the engineering

factor. The essence of science is that technology is moves very fast, many

scientist in this new era are still keeping improving their knowledge and

skill, like manufacturing vehicles.

3. APPLY ENVIRONMENT PRINCIPLES AND ADVOCATE CONVERSATION

We all know that nature has its own nutrient cycle just like human

activities in life. Where sometimes we abused our world for the sake of our

satisfaction we don't care enough to our environment. Which can cause of

climate change. In some cases, living and non-living things has it’s own life

that connect to human being. Which they say that everything is connected

to everything elsewhere and our world is constantly changing and nothing

permanent anymore that the only permanent thing is change.

Among all creatures humans are the only ones made in God’s image

and have been given the right to have dominion over all His creations.

Humans are God’s creation and we need to take care of everything.

In all Seven Environment Principles, it has only one message to us,

that the earth has its own life as well as human being has. But, we are

unique creation of God whereas we are the one has its power and knowledge

to control the earth such as pollution, environment, animals and all living

and non-living things. In helping this Environment we should help at least

in a small things just to make the earth happy as well as our health and

ourselves.
4. UTILIZE I.T. APPLICATIONS IN TECHNICAL TRAINING

Technology is an application of scientific knowledge to the practical

aims of human life or, as it is sometimes phrased, to the change and

manipulation of the human environment. However, Information that man

made has been the major cause of his progress and development and

information alone is not enough. Information has to be processed, put to

use by logic and reason before it becomes useful knowledge.

Information Technology is a developing technology that aims at

obtaining the maximum information with minimum of resources, labor or

time. According to the dictionary, Information Technology is “the study or

use of electronic equipment especially computers, for storing, analyzing and

distribution of information of all kinds, including words. Which means that

computer systems are now relied on for a broad spectrum of duties and

responsibilities that may include in business communications, product

design, bookkeeping, inventory control, and marketing.

5. LEAD SMALL TEAMS

Leading in small teams is like teaching in a classroom with different

skills, attitude and knowledge. It is a job of a teacher to instruct what to do

of his/her students. We cannot tell if student will listen just to follow the

teacher however, it depend on the teacher how to impose an instruction to

the student.

If the task is routine but requires many resources, higher class often

win out. However, big number of class has a hard time maintaining

teamwork and unity of purpose. For breakthrough results, small is where it

is. With small team, task stay focused, everyone knows everyone, and

nobody can slack or hide. Michael Jordan once said: “Talents wins games,

but teamwork and intelligence win championships”

In giving a task in a small team, teacher should have a clear purpose and

core values. That will serve as guide in picking a team leader in each team

and follow the instruction. In picking the right team leader, teacher assumes

to choose who are willing to play together for team’s success. And the team

leader will pick accordingly his/her teams through his knowledge of his/her

team’s attitude. Only work with team leader who are good fit with the

teacher’s core values and team’s competencies. Teammates who are bad fit

will drain the team’s time and enthusiasm, and are unlikely to follow the

teacher’s task.
6. APPLY WORK ETHICS AND VALUES AND QUALITY PRINCIPLES

According to the phrases from DA pamphlet: “Values are what we, as

a profession, judge to be right.” Individually or organizationally, values

determine what is right and what is wrong, and doing what is right or wrong

is what we mean by ethics. To behave ethically is to behave in a manner

consistent with what is right or moral. What does “generally considered to

be right” mean? That is a critical question, and part of the difficulty in

deciding whether or not behavior is ethical is in determining what is right or

wrong.

In this world and in our life, we have different characteristics and

attitude that may be right or wrong for others. But in this discussion,

common road mishap does happen unfortunately. Most of them are

avoidable. So before you hit the road today, ask yourself. Are you guilty of

these common mistakes that can in danger your life and others?

These driving mistakes your probably guilty possibly the cause of

changing lane without any signal, speeding up through yellow light,

blocking pedestrian lane, overtaking, using high beam all the time, over

speeding without knowing road worthiness, drunk, drug, driving. Therefore,

Never use high beam, adjust according to speed limit, and put a safe

distance. For you to make a good driver and apply the ethics and values in

driving just have concentration, anticipation, skill, attitude, knowledge, and

self-discipline.
7. WORK EFFECTIVELY IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

VET (Vocational Education and Training) plays a vital role in the

development of a strong national workforce and provides an enduring

framework for employers, with which to benchmark employee’s skills and

knowledge.

In working effectively in Vocational Education and Training,

Employee’s have at least the skills and knowledge from the field of expertise.

Without the knowledge and skills trainer or instructor Vocational Education

and Training is impossible.

In assessing whether a person meets the Fit and Proper

Requirements, the VET Regulator will have regard to the following

considerations. Whether the person has been convicted of an offence against

a law of the Commonwealth or a State or a Territory of Philippines or of

another country, and if so, the seriousness of the offence and the time

elapsed since the conviction was recorded. And so on.

In the Learner Engagement (LE) and Employer Satisfaction (ES)

surveys are collected Registered Training Organization (RTO) from students

and employers, at the end of study of blocks or close of study. These surveys

are collected and analyzed by the RTO for preview of operations and

academic services by staff and management.

8. FOSTER AND PROMOTE INCLUSIVE LEARNING CULTURE

Inclusive learning culture is based on an acknowledgement of

differences and an understanding of the needs of those with differences. It

integrates principles, which underpin inclusivity into all training and/or

assessment practices that provides equal opportunity for participation,

Fostering and advocating independence, Ensuring cooperative approaches to

learning, Using client-centered approaches to learning, Supporting, valuing

individual contributions includes perceptions the way we view other people,

clients with specific needs such as language, etc. People with disability may

be permanent, temporary, or intermittent, and providing equal opportunity

for participation, Fostering and advocating independence, Ensuring

cooperative approaches to learning, Using client-centered approaches to

learning, Supporting, valuing individual contributions

In fostering and promoting an inclusive learning culture, a training

and/or assessment organization can prepare its learners to work more

effectively and flexibly in diverse workplaces and communities such as

communicating ideas and information which provides and explaining

information and advice in relation to inclusivity to colleagues and clients,

Planning and organizing activities for developing and implementing work

strategies, using mathematical ideas and techniques, solving problem, and

using technology.
9. ENSURE A HEALTHY AND SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

In a classroom environment, we cannot assure that student will follow

and listen as what the teacher’s instruction. But there are many ways to

ensure a healthy and safe learning environment such as the word “Save the

last word for me” that routinely include strategies and activities in a

classroom which allow students to express their thoughts and ideas, build

relationship, and practice collaboration. This will help grow and maintain a

feeling of emotional safety in your classroom. Make a Post Student Work

such as displays of essay, poems, projects, and exams dominate the walls,

there is student ownership of the room. When they look around and see

their own writing and thinking, they certainly experience a higher level of

comfort than if they see store-bought posters. That said, if informational

posters are needed, ask your students to create them. Be a companion to

everyone so that they can feel comfortable if they have confidential story to

tell. Admit when you don't know, Students appreciate when we show our

humanity. Remain Calm at All Times, once a teacher loses it with a class or

student, it takes a long time to rebuild that feeling of safety and trust within

those four walls. Step right outside the door and take a few breaths. It’s

worth it. Take every opportunity to model kindness and patience. They will

notice and follow.

10.MAINTAIN AND ENHANCE PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

To maintain and enhance Professional Practice there are different

assessment tools that can help to be in a professional ways. In some ways

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and

skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with

each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements,

including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to

provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled

timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required

skills: adhere to organization’s framework when setting personal goals and

plans, determine personal learning needs incorporating feedback obtained

from colleagues and clients, document personal learning needs in a

professional development plan, use networking and professional

development activities to maintain own professional practice, and identify

and implement improvements to own professional practice and keep records

of progress. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following

knowledge describe organizational goals and objectives and how they impact

personal work goals and objectives: list a range of continuous improvement

techniques and processes, and their application, identify networks relevant

to professional practice, describe the types and availability of professional

development activities and opportunities and outline relevant legislation,

codes of practice and standards that apply to professional practice.

11. DEVELOP AND PROMOTE APPRECIATION FOR COST-BENEFITS OF

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Public bodies have to bear costs because they have to renounce the

alternative use of taxes and levies and thus public and social advantages,

which would otherwise have been generated. This applies to the State

financing of schools as well as to the subsidies and other assistance for

trainees in initial and continuing training or for companies. Any attempt to

identify the costs and benefits of vocational training in an objective manner

is subject to limits because recording and identification face the difficult

problem of revealing the subjective costs perceived by the decision-maker

after selecting the best alternative. To the extent that the trainees

undergoing initial and continuing training and companies are able to

express their preferences for specific training programs within functioning

markets, the prices which are formed on these markets are relatively reliable

indicators of the costs (or foregone alternatives).

12. DEVELOP AND PROMOTE GLOBAL UNDERSTANDING OF LABOR

MARKETS

Labor Market described as the locus in which workers compete for jobs

and employees compete for worker. From a similar viewpoint, Labor force can

be defined as the number of people employed plus the number of unemployed

looking for a job. Globalization is the process of integrating regions through

societies, political systems, economies, and culture to share ideas between the

countries. Culturally, this is beneficial because we are learning from other

countries and bridging the gap between countries. All around, globalization is a

positive action because we can learn from each other and better our countries

with other ideas and in turn work for the good of the whole world.

On the contrary, some believe that globalization only creates clash within

a province. With jobs being scarce in more developed countries because of the

crisis, jobs being filled by immigrants could have a negative effect on the people

of a country and with most immigrants moving to a region with a higher labor

market and better chance of earning a better wage for their families, in turn

these countries are homes for most of the migrants in the world.

Potentially, it could give people the impression that immigrants are a

negative thing. Some think that too much globalizing could give corporations

too much power in the long run because they would be trusted with too much.

With the good intentions of this global labor market idea of globalization, I

believe with a checks and balance type of system we could make it work.
