METHOD STATEMENT FOR SURVEY WORKS

1) Purpose & Scope

1.1 This procedure defines the method and responsibilities for the all kind
of survey, setting out and building monitoring survey for a high rise
building.

2) Manpower & Responsibilities

A) Chief Surveyor: To supervise and manage all survey related

activities in coordination with CM and design team.
B) Surveyor: To execute work at site.

3) Survey Equipments & there Control:

3.1 Survey Equipments:

Following survey equipment, but not limited to, with accessories

will be used for the Project:

a) Auto Level – For all kind of leveling related work.

b) Total Station- For all kind of setting-out and As-built Work .

c) Optical Plummet- To shift the 2D co-ordinate points vertical up.

d) Point Laser- To check form work plumb.

d) Computer Systems with Survey Software & Auto CAD.

3.2 Equipment Control:

All survey equipment shall be checked on arrival at the site, before

it used for works, and shall be calibrated by external agency at least
at the frequency recommended by the manufacturer, but not more
than a year.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR SURVEY WORKS

Both Auto level & Total station shall be checked in-house after
every three months for any error, and report shall be recorded in
format.

4) Survey Control Points (BM & TBM) :

4.1 Co-ordinate System:

Co-ordinate system (X, Y, Z) for the Project based on Bench Marks
handed over by client. Building location and level shall be related to
these points.

4.2 Survey Control Points:

A Plan shall be prepared to make Secondary Control Points around
the Project, with the consultation of construction team to avoid any
future conflict with logistic setup. Stations shall be barricaded and a
sign board fixed with the details of the station.

A closed weighted traverse shall be run separately for location (with

total station) and level (with auto level) to fix the value of these
control points.

All control points shall be checked every 3 months. The result of this
monitoring shall be recorded.

For Tower control points, base points shall be fixed on lower level
slab, from there shift points on successive floors through slab
penetration.

The height of the building divided in 2 or 3 equal height segments.

Once the construction of segment1 completed, base shall be shifted
to segment2. A closed weighted traverse shall be run to distribute
the error within the points. This procedure shall be repeated for all
the segments. Only base points shall be used for shifting points on
successive upper floors.

For level transfer and monitoring too segment system shall be

followed.

5) Survey Works:

METHOD STATEMENT FOR SURVEY WORKS

Survey works includes all the survey works involve in construction

of this Project, which includes, but not limited to:

- Setting-out and leveling for excavation & back filling,

- Setting-out and leveling of all sub-structure.
- Setting-out and leveling of all super-structure.

Procedure:

5.1) Before commencement of any work at site OGL shall be recorded at

a grid of not more than 3mX3m w.r.t project TBM.

5.2) Lay-out of structural elements with working space and slop line as
per approved drawing shall be provided w.r.t project control points
for the excavation work. During excavation location and level &
location shall be recorded for different kind of soil, as specified by
Engineer-in-Charge, for separate quantity calculation.

Once excavation complete final level shall be recorded on the grid

defined earlier during OGL survey.

5.3) After PCC completion, fix the

sub-structure design location and
reference levels. Set out the
location of super structure starter
bar on the PCC & at the top bar of
the sub-structure.

5.4) After pouring the foundation/raft,

Control shall be transferred from
the primary control points to the
slab. Survey Work at Raft Level

For column/wall setting-out, points

shall be fixed at an offset of 300mm from the design column location to
fix and check the formwork. Steel round head nail shall be used for fixing
the points

5.5) For Core wall, where jump form or slip

form system in use, cut-out shall be done
in platforms for shifting points vertical
Laser Line
up from slab to core wall face. These
points shall be marked on the last casted
slab. After casting of core wall, as-built
survey shall be done from these points
with the help of optical plummet
Plumb Laser
instrument. These location shall me
highlighted and deviation shall be
recorded in a prescribed format.

Apart from these points, physical

measurements shall be done to check
Core Wall Pre-Pour Inspection
position of other wall w.r.t these points.
Result shall be recorded in post-pour format.

These points shall be used to align next floor form work.

5.6) For vertical control, designated level marked on the core wall shall be
used for all leveling work. After column/wall de-shuttering a level of SSL
+1.000m shall be marked on the column face with the help of Auto level.

5.7) After shuttering of the slab becomes stable, level of the deck shall be
checked and adjusted as required. Control shall be transferred through the
penetration holes and grid lines or reference lines shall be placed on the
deck to fix the positioning of the slab edge and other structural elements.
A report (see annexure “Pre-pour Report) based on survey ref. lines shall
be prepared for pre-pour inspection.

5.8) After pouring the first slab location of the points shall be chosen and
fixed for the penetration points. While fixing the location of the
penetration point, location shall be free from structural and
architectural element of the upper floors. Location shall not hinder
in logistic setup. A closed weighted traverse for location and level
shall be run separately to distribute the error between the points.

5.9) As successive slab poured, control shall be transferred onto the slab
via penetrations established for that purpose, with the help of
plummet. All the required grid lines or offset to it shall be marked
with the help of these control points by Total Station.

Slab Penetration & Marking

Shifting of Point with Optical Plummet

5.10) Pre-pour and post-pour of all structural elements shall be measured

to determine the location and level integrity of the structure and the
result of this Survey shall be recorded in the form “Slab As-Built
Survey Record”.
